Just bought an a4 B6 I believe, 2004 1.9 TDI 130 quattro estate with 85k on the clock.

I booked the car in for a clutch as it was slipping top end. Whilst it was in I decided to have the DMF done too because I felt as if the clutch pedal was really rough. I also provided the garage with a clutch bearing sleeve (genuine audi) as I thought this may be worn causing the rough pedal. Anyway, it's still not cured...800 quid later! It's really spoiling the drive of the car. If the engine is off the pedal is lovely and smooth. Sometime pressing the pedal is smooth whilst the engine is on but is especially worse when driving. It's noticeable when pressing the clutch pedal and disengaging it. I can feel the engine vibrating basically through the pedal. Now I know it's NOT the clutch and flywheel as they're literally a week old and have been replaced with quality OEM parts and the problem was there before and after. Also the thrust bearing and sleeve were also replaced.

Searching google and forums there are masses of stuff on the DMflywheel but eliminating this, is it possible I am feeling a vibration from another common problem....the alternator clutch? I have noticed vibrations and rougher feeling in the clutch when I am parking the car in a tight spot, say parallel parking and have full lock.

What's your thoughts? I have had a few 130 pd engined golfs but this audi is being spoilt by this issue..any help/advice appreciated. thanks..Daniel

Engine mount or gearbox mount?
I believe VCDS can flag up if its the engine mount on the nearside. Look for leaking fluid

I have had the yellow check engine light on the last couple of days but no leaks.

I get the same issue on my B7, but no warning lights, someone suggested flywheel but looks like thats not the case!

The only thing I can think of is the bearing is faulty, it's not unheard of. My friend who owns a garage has a few every year, I've even seen a faulty DMF this year as well but that made a horrible grinding noise when the car was started, that was on an A3.

If its the bearing does that mean a whole new clutch?

If you mean the release bearing, they're around £15 from euro car parts but the labor will bring the cost up. I changed my clutch when I got my B7 because the release bearing kept on making a quack noise when releasing the clutch when it was warm.

How much labour is involved in changing a bearing? Is this confirmed as being the fix to it?
