Hello all,

I have had my S3 a while now so thought i would throw a thread up of my build so far! :)

I sold my mk5 golf gti last summer and made the change to an Audi S3 Black Edition. It was sad to see the golf go but i am over the moon with the Audi.

Here is the car when i picked it up from the dealer. Fully stock with full Audi service history. :)

The car was reasonably well specced but i couldnt live without sat nav after having an RNS-510 so i had a RNS-E and cruise fitted straight away. Thanks to DannyK9 for that!

Next i got the roof and spoiler wrapped in black at Prestige wrap just to make the car look a bit meaner!!

To get the stance sorted i fitted a set of -25mm H&R springs. I am very pleased with ride quality indeed. Is still very good.

Starting to look mean now!! :ninja:

Next was performamce mods. For Christmas my fantastic mrs bought me autotech fuel pump internals. Thanks to Rob at W8 for those!! :beerchug:

I also persuaded my old man to get me a TTS engine cover to keep things looking neat.

I treated myself to a VWR intake and full Milltek TBE from Awesome when they had their black friday sale.

Here are the mapping results from AMD! I went with Revo software.

My forge spacers then turned up, so i was excited to unwrap them when i got home from work! These got the stance looking a bit better! :)

Here are the spacers fitted. Very pleased with how the car looks now and after a good little test drive i can report no vibrations what so ever, so i'm very pleased. Here a few pictures.

Nice results there, and good to meet another AMDTuning customer!
.
Be very careful with the SPS,as it's possible to undo a lot of the good work already done with that interface,if you aren't totally sure of what you're doing.....I tend to leave mine pretty much alone and only ever use it if it's going near the dealer(which isn't often these days) or if I ever had to use 95RON fuel.
.
Once it's adapted you may well see an increase in the mid-range torque, but the overall figures look pretty much spot on.

Thanks Alex, all i did with the sps switch was take settings from the car and set up a channel for if i have to put 95ron in. So far though i have always managed to put V-Power in so not used it since then. :)

Next i want to get a dsg map done but unfortunately all the tuners that offer this on the newer gearboxes are up in the midlands or up north. Probably going to get Shark to do it in April when i'm up that way unless anyone else has some bright ideas?

Mine is manual,so I may not be much use here, but do AMD or Revo not have something for you?......if Revo do,AMD would almost certainly be able to load it for you I would have thought.
.
I either use V-Power or Momentum99 and wouldn't use anything else unless I absolutely had to either!.....having both water/meth and a boost controller does make life a lot easier as I can just switch the boost off if I needed to,but the SPS is such a useful piece of kit otherwise.

I'm tempted with wmi. Hurdy on mk5gti has made some really good power with it on his R. 390bhp, 460 lb/ft. He does however have a giac extreme map with the 3" intake. Alex did you run it on yours back when you were 2+? :)

Unfortunately both revo and apr haven't cracked post 2009 gearboxes. Revo have told me they are planning to get this done this year but apparently they have been saying that for ages.

I think both those companies have said the same,so if you can find a solution elsewhere,go for it.
I have to say I'm surprised at the torque figures there, but I've no reason to doubt them, but I would be a little concerned if that's on stock internals,as 460lbs is pushing it a bit.
.
I didn't bother with WMI or a big intercooler on Stg2+,but to look at it from another angle,if you ever plan on going further, then I would get both,as you do need them for Stg3 or 4,and at 2+,you won't notice any drop-off in hot weather,so cost aside, both are worthwhile.
Hurdy has basically gone a different route to those results from me,and by using the Loba turbo he's avoided the need for a lot of what I've done but the bigger turbo on mine gives a LOT more top end power, and you don't get the torque drop off either.

Thanks for the info Alex!! This forum does nothing apart from encourage you to spend more money!! Ha ha. Had a good read over your thread a while ago. Must resist. :)

Thank you!.......It's much easier to simply give in to the need for speed.
.
What all this does show is that there are several ways to crack the same nut,and despite what some of the tuning companies say, most of them work, albeit by different routes.
Hope you enjoy the car,and may see you sometime at AMD.

If i see you there i'm gonna make you take me for a spin in the 500BHP BEAST!! Ha ha :)

You can pay for the petrol!...LOL....seriously though, you'd be more than welcome, once it has wheels and brakes!

Looking stunning James, looks so much better than I remember, and even then it was still stunning.
It was a pleasure working on your car fella. Enjoy!!

Lol its like reading my own thread! I did roof and spoiler at Prestige Wrap too, good lads working on thier website. In regards to the intake did you check your car's fuel trims at all? Mine were about 10-14% and have had to return it back as its above engine spec therefore car could run a bit too lean. Would be nice to meet up at some point:]

Ha ha great minds! I work over in woking actually so not far from you at all. We'll have to get a southeast s3 meet set up!

Regarding the vwr intake i checked with vwr and mine is from a good batch according to them. When AMD had it on he rollers everything was ok. I just got dash command last week so i will have a look at the fuel trims when i got it all working. I'm tempted with the revo intake! Very nice!! :)

Looks lovely. Very similar spec to mine in terms of modifications.

Nice one! Coffee meet up would be nice at some point if we can get more ppl up for it:].

mine had the MAF pipe replaced but still wasnt giving fuel trims low enough so i returned it and bought AMD:]. Fitting it Sun with some other bits at AMD Essex.

As you're an AMD customer, you should also take a look at AMDTuning's own intake here.....

.
It may not be as pretty as Revo's,but it's well thought out, very smoothly tapered around the MAF,and the largest I've seen....and it's going on mine.

Loving the car. Spacers Definitely an improvement.

What colour are your alloys? They look bronze like in some pictures....or is that just me?

Thanks mate yeah the spacers made it look so much better. The wheels are are the standard black edition colour. Anthracite i think its called. The photo's arent the best as i only took them on my phone. :)

Thanks for the input on intakes. I'll keep an eye on my fuel trims. I looked at the AMD intake aswell but the Revo one is just so pretty ha ha :)

If i do have to get another intake i'd be tempted by getting a 3" one along with the GIAC extreme engine map because that produces a lot more torque.

When the weather gets better i'll set up a south east meet thread and see if we get much interest. :)

That's good.

I'm usually up for that sort of thing.

Show me some coffee and I'm there. Lol.

Thanks matey. Its an apr badge but i just didn't use the apr part. Badge is available from awesome gti :)

Haha thanks a lot mate! I did my 2.0tdi remap couple days ago so I don´t feel bad about to order that one lol :arco:

Another little update. Cleaned the car this morning then got dash command running. I can now wirelessly look at all engine information on my iphone or ipad. Pics of guages working just after engine started :)

The spacers are 11mm all round. I have absolutely no rubbing at all even with 2 people in the back but i did cut down the rear arch screw tab as recommended by people on here when i fitted them. This is very easy to do and takes 2 mins. If you need a picture of it just let me know. :)

Don't forget if you get the forge spacers you will need to order sepeartely longer wheel bolts and longer locking wheel nuts.

Small update.

I always wanted recaro's when i was searching for the right S3 but didn't manage to find one in the spec i wanted at a decent price. Anyway finally got some recaro's and went for the RS4 ones. They are retrimmed in red nappa leather and i'm over the moon with them. Door cards and rears will be done to match once my bank account has recovered a bit. :)

One of my fav mods so far! They hold you in the seat so much better and look the business. Always used to slide around a bit in the bends, even more so for the passenger who don't have the wheel to hold onto :)
