Hi all,
About a 2 months ago I purchased an audi a3 2.0TFSI with normal halogen headlights.
I wish to change them to one of these (or xenon which i cant find yet :( ):

or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A3-S3...d4a4b15&_uhb=1

So first, Has anyone had one of the above and can comment on quality and overall satisfaction from them? maybe provide pics?
Second, What about changing the bulbs and converting it to HID? will it cause problems with MOT?
I heard that when you convert it, usually you hide everything inside the headlight to make it look original.

Also, if you have pictures of your car with an aftermarket headlights, i would be more than happy to see them.

Thanks!

These are the two responses you will get

1. The lights look horrible in my opinion just save up for some original xenons and do it properly

2. HID kit will blow up your wiper motor and will cost you £350 ive been there done that so don't buy one !! If you buy it and fit after ive told you, you are a fool ! And you have to accept your a fool

thats all mate so dont do what you want to thats the best way to survive a disaster

got it.
didnt know it was such a big deal here...

If they're to your taste; they are both halogen so should pose no problems, especially the second set. It's only when you start trying to fit after-market xenons, rather than factory ones, that you run into heap big trouble.

Trouble is, factory fit is veeery expensive!

WTF's happened to my fonts??????

Good lad dont do it the forum people dont like them but by all means if you like them then fit them but dont fit HID's unless u like spending £350 for no reason

I have the second set on the links uv posted... they look good in my opinion... respectfully others will beg to differ but everyone has there own taste i guess. I didnt use HID as i was worried about wiper motor blowing but a company called 'well done' specialise in Hid for the A3 to prevent wiper motor from blowing so you can try them i guess. I have philips diamond vision bulbs in mine which look close enough to xenon just not as bright.

Not the best of videos but just an idea of what mine looks like with just the led strip on

Thank you for your comment.
Can you please take a picture of your car and post it here?
If its not too much to ask of course...
How good is the diamond vision? and have you considered MTEC?

A3 pdia

Thats mine with the philips diamond visions like i said they look close to xenon but they are not as bright, havent tried or looked into MTEC mate so cant advise you there but i hope this gives you a better idea. Sorry for the crap quality image.

Also worth noting if you are going to buy these devil eye headlamps then please make sure you buy the ones with adjustable motors built in otherwise like me you will have to transfer the motors from your original headlamps which is a pain.

thanks!!!
I appreciate it!
it actually looks pretty good.
I wonder how it looks on the road.

They look pretty good on the road, obviously nothing beats OEM Xenons but these are decent for what you pay for.

If you want to go down the HiD road then have a look at the link below, the company swear that their kits wont harm your wiper motor, they're quite pricey though but have some good reviews on youtube and other VAG forums aswel.

here we go again..

It´s funny, because every time someone ask about HID in the forum people just complain, give an attitude, give no answer or just say "search the forum"

There was no conclusion at all on the information that was given before on the forum, so he is on his right to ask.
Also the old posts from 2008 are not updated & the options or solutions may change in time.

As other users say there are alternatives that won´t blow your wiper away.
1st - Special HID kits for A3 (the cheapest, around £100-150)
2nd - OEM HID kits (around £200 - £300)
3rd - OEM Headlights (arouns £450 - £900)

I have had my WELLDONE A38P kit in since 16/06/2011 and haven't had a single problem, I also forgot to take them out for the new mot test, but it still passed and they said nothing about them?

I also brought the Philips diamond vision before the hid kit after reading the recommendations on this forum but my honest opinion is that they are just as poor as any other halogen bulb, Yes they look white when you take a photo looking directly at them but lets see a photo from the drivers seat compared to the HID.

Cheap HID'S do not work on the A38P, WELLDONE A38P HID'S do work Guaranteed!

wow that looks awesome! i got the same headlight but dont know how to make LEDs to work...plz help me out

Do you mean you've got the same aftermarket headlights as me but just the led strip doesn't work??

I don't understand.. so you have fitted the headlights and both the leds for left and right don't work... have u made sure all the connections on the block are fully pushed in??

do I have to wire any things to make those LEDs to work? Or any connection I missed that could make it work?

No the leds are all wired into one block... its plug and play and they will only come on when u turn your switch to sidelights. You may just have a faulty batch unfortunately
