Good Lord Westicles, there must be HOURS worth of work gone into that Index Page!

Very nice work indeed my son. Looking forward to sharing some track space with you this year :)

Took me about 4-5 hours to do that index page but it needed doing.

I'm really hoping to get on some track days too mate. just need to sort out a daily hack first.

How far are you from Oxford mate? I did Abingdon yesterday and I REALLY enjoyed it. track layout was much better than I expected for an airfield, and it's in a reasonably central location.

£109 for an open pitlane day, one each month from not until october! We should definitely get to one this summer. Check my build thread for a video :) I won't clutter up yours with my tat

Its 100 miles from me. I did look into going on the one you did yesterday but couldn't afford it. We'll definitely do a day together this year.

Just had to go to Halfords and fit a new battery after last weekends jump start antics and then it conking out on the MOT ramp yesterday. The old battery must have been a good 8 years old so not bad going I suppose.

Nah it doesn't really interest me. I'm aiming at a sorted standard K04. The guys that have gone hybrid and big power have spent a lot of money, they have other cars to drive and have been running into reliability issues and they are constantly upgrading other parts to strive for more power.

This progress thread is to try and capture everything leading up to a maxed K04 daily driver ;)

Westy!! I was just reading your build thread. LMAO!! Look at you now!!! lol Can you ever believe this was you at one time. The bug gets us all buddy.:blackrs4:

Very awesome job with the indexing by the way.

I have achieved a maxed K04 daily driver. Only issue is my girlfriend is the one who drives it each day. Also most of my reliability issues have been normal issues you'd expect from a car of this age.

I'm glad you like the index, it was well needed.

Ya I guess you did stay true to your word. After all the mods, I guess I had just forgotten that you are still running a standard K04. I want to go the same route as you just not as "maxed". I would like to hit the 300bhp mark without upgrading the turbo but with bolt ons, and a retune.

My car is a daily driver/weekend track car as well and I don't want to push the motor to a breaking point so I would be happy with something under 300. You suggested Nick at R-tech to me once and he really sounds like he knows his stuff. I will be taking to him when the time comes. (Sorry Bill but Nick is about 150 miles closer) Although if I find my K04 is jacked when I fit my V3 manifold next weekend I would definitely go with a hybrid instead of a stock replacement.

I worry about the stuff you lot talk about on whatsapp and so on lol.

Another month passes with very little to do on the car. I have decided its about time I look to fit my oil cooler that's been sat in the garage for a good 4-5 months!

I whipped off the front bumper to have a look for a suitable location for the cooler and route for the pipework. I really want to mount the core behind the 4 rings so it's in direct airflow and I think I can get it to fit there. Here's a few pics that show where I want to fit it. Hopefully it won't block too much air to the rad!

8 of the 13 rows are on show through the grill so it should be quite effective there.

All the fittings can be angled anyway I want which is nice but I'm thinking I'll drill through the plastic and run direct straight down to the thermostat feed once it's on. I managed to find my catch can bracket I never used and I think that'll come in handy with fitting.

I'm hoping that I'll only need to mount 1 side as the hose will keep it all fairly sturdy too. Will have a crack at fitting this some time this weekend. What do you guys think? Any input?

I would use two brackets mate. The hose will keep it in location but won't prevent vibrations/bouncing of the oil cooler radiator. This could potentially cause it to flex at the one bracket and eventually cause a fracture.

Shouldn't take long to knock up another bracket similar to the one you have.

I know what you mean regarding, not touching your car for ages. :(

Good point mate. I'll knock something up. At least with it being mounted on the front it'll be a shorter more direct route to the thermostat. Might need to cover the blue hose with something black though as its going to mess up my colour scheme lol.

*COUGH* LINK *COUGH* lol

Also those track wheels need to be green :ninja:

Looking forward to some more updates fella!

Where did you get the cooler kit from out of interest?

Everything except the core is Mocal gear from Matt Lewis Racing on eBay. The core was a bargain find on eBay and was advertised as a Rover part! It was identicle in size and shape to the mocal core but was only £20 so thought I'd give it a go.

620cc.... perhaps, and 4bar if you indeed did go for >400bhp
should be mappable on k04 yes

can anyone suggest the correct make and model of injectors i need to look for. I need to up mine, similar prob with the stock unit maxed at 301hp. But i will go BT eventually, however sticking with backdraft K04 atm with an upgrade to AGU head/pistons/V3 relentless.

cheers
P.

Go Bosch 550cc. Tuffty has done this then added a 4 bar FPR along with an inline pump and it's fuelling his BT just fine. The beauty of the Bosch 550s is their spray pattern and the amount of map data that exists out there.

Genesis 2 range of injectors are all the rage at the min. Ive got gen 2 630s to see me to and beyond 400hp.

Fred you mean the sandwich plate when you refer to thermostat? Had me confused there. Bout time you did something to your car. Plenty of pics please :)

Yes mate, sorry, the sandwich plate. It has a built in thermostat to redirect the oil through the cooler at 83 degrees (I believe).

If I can find another suitable bracket I might have this fitted this weekend.

Well I finally got round to fitting it...

There's a slight leak at the nuts on the sandwich plate fitting that I will battle with later. Just enjoying the weather first ;)

me and fred got the cores seperately for a bargain price. Then he got all the fittings from one place i believe, its documented in his thread somewhere.

Sorry fred im bored and thought i may aswell answer for you.

Wooooohoooooo!!!!!

Freds back in the game! :)

Good work mate, I'm impressed that there's room above the rad pack to pass the pipes through the front panel. I might look into that for mine, I want to relocate it at some point.
