Trying to find an airbag to replace my blown A3. Hard to find. The 4 spoke a4 looks the same (badge) as my 3 spoke A3 (badge), but looks are decieving. Search shows a similar thread, but years wheren't posted, so I wanted to confirm.
Thanks.
If anyone else want to chime in on what else needs to be replaced, I would apreciate it. Front impact crash, only steering wheel deployed. Haven't checked seat belts yet. I've had car less than week, and purchased it this way. So very new to it all.

Airbag control module would have crash data, so either replace or have it sent away to have the module reset.

Show us a pic of your current underside of airbag & also front pic, to be sure of advice.

My a3 Not sure what you mean by underside, I haven't figured airbag removal to find part numbers and such,

This is the a4 wheel

4 spoke doesnt fit 3 spoke, remove airbag by using a torx 27 head at rear & take picture of under side where loom plugs into the airbag.

Ok I'll ask politely for the 3rd & last time, please show us a pic of the bottom of the airbag, there's a reason for this.

The oder way U can buy any stering wheel from a3,4,tt with MF and airbag not older like 2007 if is from 3door or any year from sportback.

Also there are 2 airbag types, which is why he has to confirm which he has by way of a photo, stop misinforming people which then makes them buy an incorrect item.

No you can't Daniel ! That information is incorrect and, as NHN says, there are two different types of airbag that look identical from the top but have a different fitting profile underneath.

I have two mfsw's one from an A3 and one from an A4 and they require different airbags.

With respect, I did say pic of the underside, so we can see the underneath of airbag, not the part number, need to see connections & chassis type of airbag to confirm.

I just said I have same airbag like Hi needs

Other way is Hi can buy any complete steering wheel from a3, a4,TT or R8, and will be works. Or s3 flat bottom also.

I didn't said Hi can buy airbag from a4 and fitted to a3 stering wheel.

Ok so you do have the different airbag as I thought.

See those 2 white plastic locating holes to the left & right of your orange/green airbag connectors, those locate into the metal studs inside the base of the steering wheel.

Audi only used these type for a short period & there was no way to determine which you had until now, so you need to find an airbag that has the same 2 plastic holes if you want to use the same wheel.

Also your airbag controller will have crash data in that either needs resetting or replaced.

Daniel, I'm not sure of your nationality but your English is better than my attempt at any other language would be !

However, I think that there may be a problem with understanding exactly what you mean sometimes. It is inadvisable to suggest or recommend certain things when they can be misunderstood, and in the case of airbags and steering wheels particularly so.

Had you said a 'complete steering wheel and airbag' then that would have been more correct.

If you have something to sell then you need to put it in the classifieds section of the forum and not this part.

Thanks

Good job Audi....:nunu: Suggestions on a complete wheel/airbag swap? A4, TT, etc? That might be cheaper it seems.

Sorry
Next time I send PM
I'm not seling any parts just won't help and in that case I wright hire.
I know my English is so bad. Sorry

Ah thats a pita as import taxes if bought from EU.

Very doubt it indeed, you're going to send him an airbag & steering wheel as a gift, chances that avoiding taxes are very remote.

I bought many things from US, always send them first to my friend and later to Ireland. I newer pay any penny.

If U buy something from EU courier charge U vat/tax from the cost of purchase. For example if U buy something for 100$ and tax is 20% courier charge U 20$
But if private person send You parcel like gift should be without any tax

Thats the one you have for sale is it?

Yes within the EU its not charged for import, but buying from US to send to UK or vice versa, there is a customs charge, you have been lucky as they dont always charge it, but if you use a courier like ups or fedex, they have a system with customs that they auto add taxes regardless, been there got the tshirt, so I know what I'm saying is true.

Yes that's true, FedEx if You buy on eBay charge tax automatically if purchase is more expensive like 36 euro. But if You send by post to friend, family and You wright it is a gift going for free. Like I said I'm buying many small things and my friend from Boston sending me to Ireland and never I pay any penny.

That's the airbag what I have. Steering wheel also but is without Multifunction
