Hi guys, I have kerbed two of my alloys but the damage is very little, does anybody have some advice on how to repair it DIY ,if that is possible. Thanks.

Is it on the diamond cut surface or on the paint? If the former live with it as you can't repair those without taling them to a refurbisher that does diamond cut polishing. If on the anthractite paint you may be able to patch DIY but it won't last.

The finish is a clear acrylic powder lacquer that has to be oven-cured.
I've recently had three sets of Audi alloy wheels re-furbished by JP Alloys in Cannock (local for me) two of which were diamond-cut and were returned in a first class condition.
And this may help: I believe JP Alloys now offer a collect and return service, providing a suitable container for each-way transportation of the wheel and tyre, and returned with the wheel and tyre balanced and ready to re-fit; check with JP Alloys for delivery times and costs.
Whatever you decide ... don't leave it as it is, otherwise salty water will get into it and start to creep under the lacquer and give your alloys the dreaded white worm.
As a minimum clean it up a bit with some wet sanding, polish and then put some lacquer back on it.

Hi nigel ,correct ,waters got under the paint lol they will be getting a refurb and they will show an appearance very soon

Or clean it up and apply 2-3 coats for G-Techniq C5 on it. Not a lacquer but a chemical sealant which is very durable until you do want to get it fixed.
... but better than nothing.C5 is holding up well on the alloys on the diamnd cut faces, better in fact than it does on the paint in some areas which is a bit wierd. Might trry C2 whihc is sipposed to be a spray on wipe off version of C5.
The diamond cut part (with no kerbing) has lacquer on it, and C1/ C5 will work OK on top of the lacquer coat. Once the lacquer has been removed (from kerbing etc) it won't be quite as good.

I use C2 and C1.5 for topping up the C1. The new version of C2 is getting good reviews.
The painted bits on the RS3 Rotors do not feel that glossy and has quite a a matt look. I'm finding them harder to keep clean than normal ... probably what P_G is getting at above .... anyone else finding this ?

The satin finish on them does make it quite hard for stuff to bond to them. I ended up using Menzerna Power Gloss on them to take off what C5 was there plus refine the surface and then applied C5 again so fingers crossed it should work this time.

I have been quoted £510 from W.R.C. in Bamber Bridge,Preston, to refurbish my 3 RS3 alloys .......That sounded pretty expensive to me and they said that they cannot diamond-cut just the edge of the wheel (where the damage is) all the wheel has to be done and then repainted !!!!!! Does that sound right to any of you ??? Or are they just trying to levitate the price ???
Looking at the wheel, I cannot understand why do they have to diamon-cut where the titanium paint finish is !!!

Yes but some standard prices dont include specific special jobs, like welding metal onto kerbed walls as such & cutting back to the original lines of the wheel, so for your wheel type, that may not be the full price once they see the wheel type, it takes a fair bit of time to repair some wheels overall.
Not being funny but £500 to get your 19" wheel back to original state, considering its more than that for one new wheel from audi, isnt exactly expensive IMHO.
Anyway, choose wisely considering the wheel & car, but I have seen wrc's work & I dont know them directly & its been very impressive.

Sorted it now by polishing the arms with Menzerna and then reapplying C5. Appears to have worked this time.
Vito, contact Tony Gray at the Wheel Specialist in Newcastle and say that Graeme recommended you to him. He can Diamond polish the edges and has the Satin lacquer that the wheels are finished with as it was the first thing I did on the way home from picking up my car from new to see that he could repair the alloys (just in case). He may also be able to advise you if any of the local franchises can do what he does.
I've spoken to JP Alloys today (Pete Horton, hands-on owner/director of JP Alloys on 01543 503362) and Pete tells me that JP Alloys can refurbish back to original spec a 19-inch RS3 alloy wheel for £70 plus the dreaded VAT (£65 + VAT if the tyre has already been removed). If a Matt finish is required then this is plus £10 as the wheel has to be re-lacquered to provide that finish.
I have seen their diamond-cut work and it's gob smackingly good.
JP Alloys price includes:
⢠the removal of the tyre
⢠stripping off the original paint/lacquer
⢠repaint to original colour
⢠diamond cut
⢠re-lacquer
⢠re-fit the tyre with new valve and balance.
JP Alloys are, as I write, discussing a collect and return/delivery service with UPS
So have a talk with Pete (01543 503362) and discuss what you have.
