Its fine, you've most likely just being doing lots of short journeys in the extreme cold.

Give the car a proper run and get it hot (like 20-30mins driving) and it'll go away.

Yes i have, school 2mins drive away. no journeys have been longer than that for 5 days....

Mate, you put my mind at rest! Cheers fella, going to give it a nice long run later. i have wiped it off the cap anyway, so after the journey see what it is like. Oil and filter will be getting a change soon

Any best / good value oil for this car? 1.8 N/A 5v Engine? APT it is...

Just goto your local factors and buy whatever their cheapest stuff is. Usually carlube, comma or granville.

Given its not a turbo, you want 10w40 semi synth, you can also use 5w40 full synth if you want to splash out, but its less of a requirement on a non turbo engine. Should be around £15 a gallon.

I use cheaper oil (5w40 synth) and change it every 5k, rather than paying 30-40quid a gallon for fancy castrol stuff and leaving it in for yonks.

na kidding and a 2 min drive to school is very lazy
get some exersize and walk.

haha, its a 10 - 15 min walk with the kids haha. their only 3 and 4.. small legs and all.

Summertime is about the only time i will walk to school :w00t:
I used to have a punto before the audi... and what a matchbox car that was, they are really.... ahem.. POO cars and thats being very generous. It had 4 head gasket replacements (warranty of course) and i hoped this wasnt the same.. i mean it still could be, havent gave her a run yet.. will do that later

An Audi is in a different league to those french/italian after thoughts you call a punto ;)

This is my First Audi.. and tell you something i will never have anything different. Fantastic engines, quality... that punto had everything wrong with it, would have cost me an arm and a leg... but thats another funny story.. Dealer got screwed, by himself :undwech:

Also been out in the car today, for a long drive lol.. over an hours worth of runing, and on inspection after... that mayo stuff has gone :) happy chappy

Yeh its just condensation that forms inside the engine.

If you do lots of short journeys the condensation mixes with the oil and turns into that white emulsion.

Once up to temperature, the small amounts of moisture essentially boil off and disappear.
