as it sits now its running 190 bhp and 240 lbft , on a worn out k03 turbo

next week should see my gt28 71r arrive :)

Nice. Why have you swap the oem management over though?

Nice. Why have you swap the oem management over though?

reason 1 , i dont need a maf , so i just use tps vs map

reason 2 , i can do alot more with after market ecu such as

Adaptive Lambda control: Self learning fuelling capabilit

Adjustable speed and load sites

Closed Loop EGT control

Tailor boost curves

Map switching

Diffrent boost in diffrent gears

i can change every single setting in the ecu , i dont have to pay some one to plug vag com in to see for any problems , or change settings

it really dont cost that much to do , and its easy to use and understand and best of all its plug and play :)

Yes, well done Jardo. This car doesn't have me7, and it'd cost just as much to convert to me7 as it would emerald, I know which I'd choose.

Looks cool mate, nice to see a different approach. Had you got any more details about this plug and play emerald setup? Does it retain the stock ecu to run the clocks and things? Is it genuine standalone? Or more of a piggyback affair?

I've seen an emerald ecu on a blue lotus x reg think it was that was more of a piggy back ecu for the 1.8 turbo engine fitted. Retaining standard clocks ect.

Looks interesting build , something different.

The lotus ecus were dreadful and a piggy back still didn't give many tuning advances. They needed an emerald and some decent cam pulleys to fine tune them.

its fully standalone , you remove the bosh ecu and have an adaptor that plugs to your std loom and plugs into the emerald , every thing works except the mpg thing on the dash and one little thing controlling the dbw for idle , there finishing off the software for that so , i just fitted an idle screw

also atm they only have a plug and play loom for an agu with 3-pin coils ndbw

there 100 % standalone , emerald ecu works with can bus system so all the clocks work in a lotus

That sounds very cool indeed mate! I have an AGU with 3 pin coils so that's not an issue.

Is emerald able to do anything like launch control or similar? I take it it controls boost via the standard N75? Does it have knock control as well like the stock ECU? What sort of cost are you talking for the ECU and plug+play loom all in?

Sorry for all the questions! It's nice to see someone doing something a bit different for a change!

yes use is the stock n75 , you can have launch control , if you use the map switch and push button so you use one map with a low soft cut and hard hard cut rev limit , and then you only have too maps , thats one way to do it , knock control should be ready soon just waiting for the new software to be realesed , lots more feautures coming too , and should be free , like tc , dbw , turbo timer

money wise

ecu cost 595 + vat

plug and play plug cost 120 +vat

and map sensor cost 60 + vat

so it something like 780 plus the vat and you get discount if you say your on here i think like 5% off

ive got a emerald k6 for my suzuki swift the new ones have a feature for traction control aswell and a few other odds and sods there a great ecu plus being british advice is always there and dave walker is a legend i see why you changed it

I was going to ask if it was still Dave Walker behind it all! He's a bit of a legend in the Mini circles :)

mk2 golf here now, on GT35 was on MBE, we have now wired in Emerald.... Not the latest version however.
the TT I race against runs Emerald.. Works fine. Nice features.. I still like my DTA's however.. The new K6 has better features over its predecessors so I need to review their specs.. They keep developing them.

small updates spent some pennies ill let pics do the talking
