Hi guys,

I'm considering buying a second car for commuting, still unsure as might sell my GTI due to the running cost... :(
To be honest I shouldn't have bought it in the first place but I thought it maybe something worthy which wasn't to be quite honest... just waste of money...

In terms of MPG it turns to be something around 20~25 which isn't any good for me...
So now considering a more economy car which I could turn it into something more sporty like RS3...
I've been looking for the RS3s and they're around 33k to 36k, whereas the S3s only costs around 20k

So I thought maybe should go for an A3 S-line 170 Sportback on Diesel and convert it to RS3, well only look-wise...
But not entirely sure and wanted to ask you experts...

Is it worth the money to have a RS3 replica or S3 (3 door) replica...?!?

I've estimated the cost of conversion for RS3 and it would be something between 1,500 to 2k, but for S3 only 1k

Found this RS3 replica on Google;

It would be interesting to see another RS3 conversion. I would say around 3k+ depending on the car.

If it were me I would be looking for one with fully loaded interior and then convert the exterior into the RS3.

I'm thinking if you was looking at RS3's and the prices then don't worry about MPG, buy it, drive it and love it

That's actually what I intended to do in the first place but my budget is 13k at most...
Cheers

Has anyone else done this before, if so could you back-link the thread to see what's exactly needed for the RS3 conversion?!?
By the way why 3k, I understand what you're saying but once I re-sell the original parts it would return me 1k, so practically the total cost would be 2k for the conversion...

I've just l@@ked at another RS3 conversion thread and this user "~RS~" is saying the RS3 wings in wider and costs £600+ each...?!?
Is this true?
Is by any how the wider wings required, coz I saw in some other forums that someone only listed the bumper, side-skirts and diffuser needs changing + the interior bit which is obvious, but I mean if the exterior on its own gone cost that much then might not worth it...

What do you guys think?!?

You need the wings other wise the front bumper wont fit.

A member on here asked his garage to mould and create custom wings for him so i guess you don't have to buy the the official audi's one as they cost a lot due to the fact they are made of a special carbon composite material that saves on weight . You will need

Front bumper £500
Grill £300-400
Rear bumper £400
Side skirts £500
Mirrors £200 (unless u want body colour)
Spoiler £200

All of these prices are all average ebay prices ive seen these parts going for except from the side skirts as they are so hard to find ,last thing i need for my own conversion .

If you haven't seen it already: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/163650-my-project-car-loads-pics.html

That price was guess work.
Sideskirst cost and fitting: £1000
Complete RS3 bumper: £900
Rear bumper: £500
Spoiler: £250
Custom made wings: £350
Labour and spray panels: £400

Thank you guys for all the helpful replies, really appreciate your help as always :)

I'll have a look at the conversion thread and will let you all know upon my final decision! :)

Cheers

Guys just was wondering whether the bottom part of the 8p2 of s3 would fit on A3 a s-line 8p2...

I don't want to Replace the entire rear bumper, just wanna replace the bottom bit of S3 with sline 8p2, anyone done this before????? (((3 door only)))

I dont know how you worked out these costs but they are way off! Bearing in mind that s3 side skirts will cost you around 800-1k, you'll probably need to look at those prices again

Personally, I absolutely hate reps and dont understand why someone would spend the money on one

Save an extra few grand and buy an s3.

Cheers mate, yeah I won't be doing the rep for sure, but just wanted to replace my A3 S Line (3 Door) bottom bit of the rear bumper with a S3...

Do you think it would without me needing to buy the entire S3 bumper?!?

My S Line is 2007/57, 8P2

By the way merry Xmas guys :)

Cheers

I think it's called rear bumper spoiler, I'm not sure about what it should be called! :)

Haha lol oh dear, yet you're looking for sline bumpers and fogs in classifield? What for may I ask? Your car doesn't look like an sline to me... trying to make a replica? Also you're selling dodgy replica alloys, which you've had on your car for 15k... hate reps you say, right...?

Settle yourself fella lol

Upgrading to S-Line parts is bearable IMO as they are very subtle cosmetic changes. Adding RS/S kits is a different matter unless you go the full way and have the engine/transmission modifications to warrant carrying the RS/S badge....

The wheels I sold weren't "dodgy replica alloys". Replica yes, dodgy no. In fact there some of the better quality replicas I've seen, I ran them on my car as they were offered to me cheap and they looked considerably better than the standard wheels. They've now been changed for OEM speedline splits

If that was a dig at my car btw, please feel free to continue.... I'll be interested to see what stunning piece of german engineering your driving :ninja:

The lower valance and diffuser can be bought separately and fitted to the s-line bumper. The diffusers are usually quite expensive compared to the valance.

Thanks for the reply mate :)

Yeah I was looking on eBay and the valance on its own costs about 200, not sure about the diffuser coz couldn't find any!!!

Will look into it to get my hand on some cheap ones, probably second hand my taste!

Thanks

Lol, you can't pick and choose, a replica is a replica. Whether it's Sport, Sline, S3, RS3, M3,M5 you name it. Are you gonna go the full way to warrant a sline looking car, like the aluminium inlays, leather seats, steering wheel, suspension...

All you need to order is the s3 diffuser and straight swap the part number is 8P3 807 434 G1RR and costs 94.41 + VAT from the dealers.

Thanks mate, so is that all I need?!?

Do you mean keeping the S Line valance, and just changing the diffuser?!? (If so, I don't like it this way as it would look weird though!)

What I'm looking to do is to change the rear S Line's valance (bottom bit of the rear bumper including the diffuser) with the S3s valance and diffuser!

Sorry for bothering you again, just wanna make sure I get the right part number! Don't wanna waste time and money! Really appreciate your help and everyone else :)

By the way anyone know the part number for S3s side skirt that would fit (Audi A3 S Line 8P2, 2007/57)?!?

Thanks
