Yes, its a pain! :)

We have been together for 3 years, married for 6 months..

any interesting ideas which worked on your wife? :))

Lets share..

PS. I could not find a related forum area, so wrote in here.. You may move it if it needs ..

In the early days of our relationship I bought her a star! She loved that more than the Tiffany bracelet I bought her:. You get a map of where it is etc and some other bits.. Pretty cool :)

oh dear .. this is the worst thing a man can be faced with ... finding presents for the other half.

you've just got to do the right thing and say what do you want and then when she gives you the bs of oh you surprise me... (i got this last night when asking what my gf wanted for xmas) tell her no that's not going to happen. because if you just go out and "surprise her" you will no doubt end up wasting money on something that will never get used or she doesn't like..

you could always do the old trick of buy her something you want and she might like then when she doesn't use it, it rightfully becomes yours and you've sneakily bought your self something awesome.

as you can see im not the best person to give you advise been a bloke lol

your better off asking a woman as there brains work in some sort of synchronicity of wanting things.

hahah great write up! LoL :))

But def. does not help! :))

James, the star gift is a winner. I have one of those.
Lol@ coatsey, your thinking always amuses me.
My suggestion is if you cant find a gift, treat her to a pampering weekend at some fancy hotel. Its a winner and you could even go with her, so you both get a nice break. :) x

It just man thinking, it what most blokes are probably thinking, I just say it lol.

Anyway my gf can't find anything for Xmas so I think a remote control car or helicopter will be getting bought for her. Hehe bonus present for me !

I asked my wife what she wanted last year and I got the dreaded surprise me answer.

Well she was surprised when she got nothing.

I will not be doing that again this year. This year she has a gift card for a tattoo and if she doesn't use it by say end of January then I will be booked back in to get some more work on my arm.

Win win.

Yeh.. diversion is beautiful! She always wanted to go to Venice but I gave her the impression that I was thinking about Paris... I dropped lots of hints on Paris, like the odd French Cafe music tune would pop up on the ipod when we were driving and I would laugh and say: "I wonder how that got there." I asked her to book a few days off... and this was the hardest thing I ever did... but I packed for her... then we were driving around with a suitcase full of her stuff in the boot and she had no clue... on her birthday... I woke her up early... and said we had to get to the spa for 9am and that I was sorry it was a bit of a drive but it was worth it... I drove us to the airport. She found out we had flights booked to Rome... we got there... it wasn't over. I had arranged for transport to Venice as well.

You know what though? Diversion and surprise may work after all... but we are 3 years in... the first year I booked the Orient Express, the second year was an all inclusive spa package and tea at the Ritz... this year was Rome/Venice... but I am fkd for 2013!!! So I will bookmark this thread and hope we get more ideas... and to think that when we knew each other for 4 years I could get away with a decent wine/chocolates and cooking a meal for her...

Boots gift vouchers, works a treat everytime & you dont even have to get them from boots as most filling stations sell them nowadays.

Come on guys, there is a shortage of ideas in here. I expected more. I will be keeping an eye on this and hopefully see something happening. Get your thinking caps on. :) x

You cant go wrong with something personalised, i've ordered the wife a bracelet with two personalised charms with our daughters DOB and a message - came in at £190 ish from Notonthehighstreet.com - great site for girly stuff but also nice quality and unique

Theatre,Meal and a nice hotel.....thats what im doing this Sat for my wife! I get to have a good time too :eyebrows:

Why don't you just smash your Willy in to her all day then, by the time she has got over the orgasms, She will have forgot that you haven't bought her anything...

OR

You could take her for a meal and a posh hotel stay, then you could still do the above but you will have treated her to something! Winner!

You have ruined her...every year will have to be better,.....

Ok, some suggestions from me.
1. Go to a local craft shop and get her some custom jewelerry made.
2. A make over, hair, manicure, pedicure, new outfit and take her for a professional photo shoot.
3. A passenger ride in a helicopter
4. A flying lesson
5. A weekend away with a few close girfriends.
6. Book her tickets for a live show concert.

Ok that gives you something to think about for just now. :) x

Im seconded on this one in all honesty - its what im doing in January... Find a Show in London she really fancies seeing or is her favourite and then nice hotel and a bit of wine and dine... Better yet then take her round london (or city) in the day time perhaps? Do some sightseeing?

Is this your Xmas list.

I can recommend some good live shows in Amsterdam killing 2 birds with 1 stone. With a holiday and a show you would both enjoy and if she doesn't like the show the all the better for you.

I treated my wife to a trip to New York first class. Cost me a fortune. But now she doesn't moan when I spend silly amounts on my motors. Win win I think. :jester:

Keeping my eye on this thread, I have long been out of ideas since being married for 10yrs now. I'd like to book a weekend off, but not possible with my current job and a kid.

A Steam iron to make her life easier, or a new set of saucepans that will look nice in her kitchen.

Save the big fancy presents for the big birthdays so she is really surprised. A dishwasher for her 30th, a 1500 spin washer dryer for her 40th.

I'm imagining a spoiled princess. Lol.

Well I have just picked up a soda stream maker. Use to have one when I was a kid so now she has one. Hope she likes it.

Nope, im not a spoiled princess (yet). Lol@soda stream maker, that a blast from the past, i still have one of those, my boys loved that when they were kids. Think vimto was my favourite flavour, im sure the wife will be most impressed with her new appliance. :) x

See this is what I was on about, buy something you want, then when she doesn't want it you can still use it! Bonus.

lol you daft lot!

So come on is she a girly girl or into speed and cars????

Most girls like all the jewels and perfume, clothes etc but if you are like me, tickets for car racing or karting is far better!

1. Tickets for her favourite band?
2. National Trust sometimes have good events on e.g. a comedy club in a scenic location... and if the jokes are not all that then go for a walk and a nice meal...
3. Make her something... she wanted a dressing table, I made her one...
4. If you cannot make it then have it made e.g. not on the highstreet mentioned above, fantastic website for gift ideas
5. Red Letter Day? Something fun... the wife always wanted to go orbing so we did that too..

A quick answer would be something she wants the most....even a simple thing, like spending a weekday off with her could do the trick or taking her to a place with a little nostalgia attached to it,maybe?

What about a track day? Best thing my hubbard could ever get for me.... still waiting... and dropping hints!
Or.. a 4x4 experience
Or... a personal shopper (gok wan style)... na... i'd rather have the track day...

As an OP;

I bought a fascinating Bag, and a winter glove pair which she loved before.. I made a surprize ( I returned back from the job like in 22:00 ! ) so I bought a nice cake, put some candles on, and a small firework on it.. knocked the door, surpriiiiseee!! :))

And we r gonna be in the Swiss Hotel for the night ;)

Hope it works for me, it seems I'll be okay at least :))

hee hee. Yesterday while we were tidying the house my 3 year old chirped up with 'mummy, you need to put your iron away'. Oh boy did that kick up a stir!

A kindle paper white or a meal at Michelin star restaurant. (I told my wife we were going to the Hungry Horse, then drove past it on our way to the restaurant. She almost slung me out of the car as we approached the pub!)
