Was this fitted to some and not others? My Milltek has the mount for it but there's no hanger on the car? Is it something that can be ordered and retro-fitted? Currently the exhaust hangs a little low.

Overwhelmed by responses I decided to dig a bit deeper and found it on ETKA:

Part number is 1J0 253 461 J

I'll order one tomorrow then!

Just to let you know my 99' S3 has the middle hanger. The OEM exhaust is a heavy ******, I'm surprised your's don't have this hanger?!

Yeah me too. Wonder if it was removed by Croydon Racing when they fitted my exhaust but I'm doubtful, it looks like it was never there! Yeah, the stock exhaust was well heavy. They had to chop it in half for me so I could take it home. Why is it one piece ?!

I folded down my back seats and stuck the small end out my passenger window :p

who are you ordering it from ? my local dealer is pretty useless.

I should have done that really but I was in a rush...

I always use Chatswood Classic VW, who are oddly based in Artarmon, shortly to be renamed to North Shore VW. They're usually well priced and get bits fast (95% of the time either in stock or same day). The Audi garage up the road from them are useless, and about a 1/3 more expensive. I usually get trade at VW.

They wanted $48 and it'd come from Germany. Should probably get it to save the system getting bashed up...

Finally got this after getting sick of the sound of the Milltek scraping over everything. I'm hoping it fits as there seems to be a part number for the 8L and MK4 R32 and a different one for the TT 8N.

Plan on fitting it tomorrow along with the 6 monthly grease of the rear ARB bushes.

Ah, I'm glad you bumped this back up.

Need to get one of these, My tips a bit close to my bumper.

Hopefully a middle hanger will pull the middle up and thus tilt the rear down.

let us know if it fits Sam.

Will do. The TT mount looks extremely similar as you'd expect. This one I have is shown as for an 8L S3/A3 so hopefully it's ok and not an **** to fit.

Fitted perfectly. It's not made a huge difference in the height but hopefully enough. It was only the clamp that was hitting previously which is better than the system itself I guess. Even so, the system seems much more stable now. If I'd had more time, I'd probably have undone the mount on the rear silencer and realigned it slightly. It's worth fitting it though I reckon.

Nice one dude... seems like a good idea tbh and might have to try this... I have had to 'lose' the current front subframe hanger as the wastegate pipework is going to end up going that way... need to devise a hanger for that as its a fairly important one but this looks like an idea for addition support as a 3" SS system is quite heavy lol

Yeah it seems like an odd move for them to remove it because as Jojo said, the standard system is pretty heavy.

I bet this mount is way cheaper over there! It was $50 here and I had to wait 2 weeks for it to get here from Germany. I'll find out on Monday morning if it's worth it as I hopefully no longer embarrassingly scrape into the work car park.
