the one that has come up is RO13 with the last 3 letters appropriate to my surname, so would be RO13 A**

I take it you will be buying a brand new (13 plate) car for it to go onto then? (you cannot make a car appear younger than it is, so a ’13 plate’ can only go on a March 2013 onwards car)

If they are spaced 100% legal then I like them, anything that needs the letters or numbers moving are trying too hard and invariably look chavvy.

I managed to pick up the reg I'd wanted for ages a few years back when the DVLA released the 'F' reg plates for sale. It has my initials and birthday (sort of) so very personal to me. I did get plates made with a double space between F** and my 3 initials which adds a subtle separation that I like but doesn't change the fundamental way the plate reads or should read. Generally I don't like seeing messy re-spacing or stud/fonts trying to spell stuff out.

In fact, our chavvy neighbour's delinquent, Saxo modding son put a plate on his, re-spaced and with studs over the middle of a 'B' desperately trying to spell ANDY. Funny how his plates when back to legal spec after Crimestoppers caught wind of it :icon_thumright:

i like em, saves paying for pressed plates all the time, makes insurance etc easy and recognising your car in a carpark (for my daily bog standard silver golf)

My parents bought me one for my 21st (quite a while ago now!) and it is just my birthday and initials and I really like it

However, some can be tacky, like someone local has a plate which basically reads BIG POO. Was on his Range Rover so I guess it is pretty apt lol!

IE WX05 CPT would be my initials, but who would ever know?!
I bet my friends wouldn't even notice!

I had the choice of B16 ROM for 6k or D16 ROM and a black number plate screw for a lot less
Nothing's mis spaced though, just one screw in the middle of the D

Do it! I have a 2009 8p3 and a colleague has a 2011 (61 plate). With my private plate the car is ageless and to the un-Audi-trained eye people cant tell the difference and actually think mine is newer

I think the plate has to relate to the car rather than your name (which looks a bit sad to me).

DAZ 4563 looks rubbish but A3 XYZ on an A3 looks good IMO and makes the care ageless (to an extent). Hundreds of A3 plates on DVLA for £250.

Which means you have to buy a new number plate when you change your car!! A personal plate is just that - personal. It should refer to the owner, not the car. My personal plate has so far been on ten different cars, only eight of which have been A3s.

I would agree if it was something special. Private or personal plate to me is just a plate not automatically given to the car.

But if I put £250 worth of private plate on a car I wouldn't be bothered about taking it off. If I bought an A3 XYZ plate for my A3 I would leave it on I think it would make it stand out when selling.
