hi everyone

sorry about this but i,ve read quite a few threads on this but now i am just confused

first off had a quote to have my 2.0tdi se avant lowered thought was a good price £275.00

for what i thought was 45mm eibach or h&r,s so tried to book it in to be done

now they seem to be advising that i only should drop 30mm on pi springs at the same price because 45mm might mean having to

do some work on the dampers

now it might be me but it sounds a bit of maybe someone gave me the wrong estimate

so if anyone could tell me what would be the best set up for my avant so that it sits and rides well i would appreicate it

my car has had new springs done by audi just before i got it so it sits really high put a pic up tomorrow if needed

thanks Derek

Well mine has got 50/40 eibachs on it and it sits just right not too low and the ride is still comfy so I'd tell them to do what they quoted you for in the first place!

Ive got 50/40 weitec springs on mine with std shocks, sits just right and comfort of drive is still there, better if anything

Stick to your guns and get what was originally quoted, check them after. I did say that the quote was cheap.

I have h&r s on std s line dampers no problems but damper wise it does matter how old/miles they have covered because lower stiffer springs will shorten their life span. So if your on big miles I would prob change them as they may not last that long ?

right guys told the original quoters to do one :banghead:

just could not trust what they was telling me so looked through lots more threads on here

come up with the 2 most popular and decided that i will order either the eibach 50/40 or the h&r,s 35mm with b5 cups

my problem now is i just cant make my bl##dy mind up :uhm:

so my questions are

if i go with the eibach will i not need the b5 cups?
my mileage is at 110,000 should i worry about the dampers?
which set up will give the best ride and stance,?
where,s the best place to get a good deal from?

got to get them before next wed as i have the garage booked to fit them

I had the same quandry and went with the Eibach pro-kit. Doesn't lower quite as much as the H&R but still looks good to me. Plus i had the same concern over the life of the dampers as i was told by a few people that much more of a drop would shorten their lifespan. I didn't go for cups and the front is fractionally higher than the back, but not so's you'd notice. Stuck 12mm spacers on the back and looks great to me now. Pic below

What size wheels are those?

Mine is on 125,000 and I just changed the springs, did it 6 months ago and not had a problem with the dampers yet. I went for the 50/40 eibach setup so I didn't have to buy the b5 cups. It sits just right for me and the ride is still comfy maybe a bit better than before. Here's a pic for you :)

Anybody know of a 50/40 kit which is suitable for the Quattro setup? Just had a look through DPM and it looks like they're only for the FWD models?

hi gates
thats answered for me its always better with a pic nice avant mate
can i ask were did you order your springs from and how much pm me if you prefer
many thanks for your help will get some ordered asap

I think it was dpm performance, one of the sponsors on here mate and if I can remember rightly they were around the £150 area :) thanks for the comments on the car, I feel I need to do some more bits to it now im getting a bit bored lol

I think the Eibach kit i got was the same drop all round. I don't think they did anything else when i got it done (mine is a quattro if that makes a difference). Wheels are standard 18's (but with 12mm spacers at the back). There's a difference between the pro kit and sport kit. Sport drops more but is a firmer ride. Got mine done at AMD Essex.

thanks everyone for your help

just ordered from dpm performance eibachs 50/40

and the garage that done my service last week is fitting them for £50.00 so all good

even made a saving on the first quote happy days:yahoo:

post some pics when it,s done thanks again all

weitec coilys give a perfect ride and sit nice on the tyre.

Sorry to hijack thread, I have a Avant S Line on 18" DTM rims, want to lower slightly but not mad what kit would you recommend spring wise that will work with my setup?

I am running dtm wheels search my previous posts for pics

just took a look myself, that looks perfect and pretty much exact the mods iv got lined up for my a4.

Couple of questions if you don't mind..

are you on standard s-line shocks? Which H&R springs are you running? 50/40?

thanks, Craig.
