Could I fit 225/40/18 tyres on my A4 18" S-Line alloys?

Hi guys,

I've been looking at replacing 2 of my tyres, I currently have on 235/40/18's and I've found that the 225's are significantly cheaper.

I've been looking at these Falken 912's: Falken Tyres / Car / Falken ZE912 Ziex Falken ZE 912 - 225/40R18 92W XL TL £69.50 Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres - 18" R18" - 225/40/18, 225/40R18

I can't seem to find anything against not putting them as on the B7 there are no sensor or drawbacks other than a more snug fit?

Would appreciate any thoughts :)

To be honest Im not sure, but those tyres would be 1 cm shorter than the width on the wheel seems a little too much, might get a bit of slipping.

What is the width of the wheel?

18x8J then 225 tyres are fine.
18x8.5J then 235 tyres are fine.

I used to run 225/45 on my 18x8J wheels without any issues.

How can I find out? I have the S-Line fat 5's if that's of any help.

I've run 8J fat-fives with 225 tyres on a B7, with no problems at all.

Cheers Ryan.

I was just wondering, would there be any issues with running a pair of 225's on the front and 235's on the back? As I do seem to have a fair bit of thread left.

I'm thinking of opting for the Rainsport 2's over the Falken 912's as it's only £17 more per tyre.

i run 225 on 9j alloys no probs, get some stretch on

i have 225/40/18 toyo proxes all around and ok with no problems!
imo they look better as you have less side wall too!
if you put 235/40/18 on the back they will look more "chunky" compared to the front 225/40/18, also all tyres need to be identical in size and tread pattern for the abs and esp etc!

Hi All,

I have 235/40/18 on my 2.0 Tdi B7 S Line Avant but have just fitted 2 x Falken Eurowinter HS439 225/40/18 to the front ready for the winter. I went for these as I found the 235's were more expensive and I bought these Falkens at a Bargain price from the classifieds on here :)

The tyres look great but even though they are the same 40 profile as the rears they look smaller , Is it an optical illusion lol

Regards,

Si
