smelly air vents (8L)

do our cars have the same amount of filters?

where are they located?

they are getting bad now and the missus keeps asking me if i have farted!!

As far as i am aware the only filter we have is the pollen filter under the scuttle panel in the engine bay and they are cheap as chips to replace.

Otherwise you may need to get your aircon regassed/serviced as this can make a marked improvment to both how cold it blows but also smells in the car as they can get a bit smelly. Had mine done earlier this year for about £50 and it now blows nice and cold and has no smell either.

Change the pollen filter as your first port of call, they are cheap and fairly easy to do too...

If that doesnt work, there is some sort of vent bomb that you can use, thats supposed to be really good.

Hey knoxie,

It was me in the shell petrol station by the M11 a couple of sundays ago....

I've tried the the vent bomb's twice works for a little while "2-3 weeks" but the smell comes back i've just changed my pollen filter the general smell inside the car is better but i still get the air-con off smell. next stop is re-gas as i've had the car for 3 years and never had it done.

yea i remember, i always give a bib or salute to other 8l drivers

my friend used to do aircon so il see if he still does if so i can probably get it cheap, he'll prefer more the merrier aswell if you want it done?

Hiya mate, Change pollen filter, Use an Auto glym aircon cleaner (COVER YOUR SEATS IF THEY'RE ALCANTARA!) and if it still smells, it needs re-gassing, that's all you can do pal

No mate, the cleaner is like a smoke grenade.. Cover your seats, put your AC on full and on recirculating, then fire and run away cos once you press the plunger thing it doesn't stop for anything lol when the AC is on recirculate it recycles the air in the cabin, therefore when you use the AC cleaner, it sucks the air out the cabin, including the cleaner and cycles it all around the AC system, cleaning as it goes and killing bacteria that causes smells (and cold and flu like symptoms)

Make sure when you replace the pollen filter that you fit the scuttle panel over the top properly. It's notoriously fiddly to get it to sit correctly, and if it doesn't, it will let water leak into the pollen filter and into the passenger footwell.

its done!! got my bro to do it as my hands are too fat...

the old one weighed at least 4x the new one and instantly the smell went!!

i was speaking to the farther-in-law and he said to put a decent airfreshener on it to make it smell even better, good idea?
