getting a new key cut and coded? vw polo

Ive bought myself a 2004 polo with engine damage to repair and possibly sell on for absolutely no profit atall

Now i only got 1 key with it and its an aftermarket key that looks pants and it would be nice to sell it with 1 or 2 original vw flip keys for ease of sale. It doesnt have remote central locking anyway (i think) and i can buy a blank key off ebay for under £10.
If i was to buy a blank key and get it cut (does anyone know a rough price for this?) would it work or do they have some sort of chip in the keys? Ive opened this key and all it has is a small 1x4mm glass bulb kind of looking thing inside, would this be the chip? and would I be able to just stick it into the new key and away i go? cheers

The glass bulb is the transponder which tells the immobiliser that the key is good to start the car,I looked on eBay and someone sells the whole key 23 quid but they need the code,you need to know someone with the coder.
Timpsons the shoe people bizarrely do codings but at 130 it is cheaper than the dealers,but still money that could be spent better elsewhere on the car.

yeah i agree, if it was expensive i wouldnt do it but that little transponder thing looks removable so surely if i buy a key and get it cut i can just put that transponder in the new key?

Most reputable locksmiths will be able to sell you, cut & code a Polo key for less than £100. The e-bay keys sometimes come with cheap slag blades that can be a pain to cut accurately.

Yes you could put the original in a key and that'd work,be careful though as some break them removing them if glued in.

I charge £50 within a 10 mile radius to supply, cut & program VAG basic transponder keys. I have all the key cutting/programming in my van so totally mobile
