hi all,

i have had my s3 from april now and have done some minor work on it. firstly i gave the car a full serice including gearbox and diff oil, front and rear pads and also needed a new rear caliper as the old unit wsa siezed:mad:

while i was changing the oil and filter, i noticed the rocker cover gasket was weeping and the v belt was cracked so replaced these.
so here is a few pics of the when i got it...

also since i have been on the forum and reading through other threads, a common fault with the s3's are the dipstick guide and the oil pick-up pipe, so i have replaced the dipstick guide and bought the pick-up pipe to do.

Nice car, my second favourite colour. Good work on the updates too. Those wheels look super nice

thanks dan, will hopefully start the work this weekend so i will get more posts up after it all done.

hopefully problem free...

Car's looking nice bud! :)

What did you do with your old wheels?

Is it me or does the drivers side rear look lower, double check the rear spring hasn't broken mate :o.k:

I probably wouldn't use the sump gasket.... just VW sump sealant and jobs done once and right..

thanks for the tips muzza, not looking forward to the 3 bolts :(

sandip, sold the oz wheels to a guy with a mk4 golf gti. the springs are all ok. the car was sitting on a slope.

well, im having problems with replacing the outer boots as the d/shafts are seized to the hub and the cv joint is seized on the shaft.

so my mate ricky has spent ages slowly getting the shaft off the hub and the cv joint off the shaft only to find that the cv joint wont go back on the shaft, it only goes up about half way:banghead:

so i have ordered two new cv joints and hopefully this will solve the problem...

hi all, a small update.

finally got the outer cv joints done it took ages because the shafts have never been out, and were siezed so any future work should be easier to do thanks to ricky.

the next job is to get the oil pick-up pipe done and replace the sump gasket and give the sump a really good clean when its out to get rid of any gunk...

Looks like a nice car stuartj21. Are you the same Stuart who bought my black nova gsi a few years back? If so,hows it looking now?
