Hi again ASN.

Last thread ill make today.
My gear shift bushes (the ones on the end of the cables) have a lot of freeplay.
IE - There is lost motion between moving the gearstick and the Mech actually selecting gear.

I stumbled upon the 42DD alloy bushes that "Awesome" sell for the 8n TT.
Should these be suitable for the S3?.
Has anybody on here used them?

Or would i be better off with the OEM item - Being they have lasted 10years trouble free

Cheers

they dont look a bad mod at all, and a good price, for awesome!

just make sure you have the cable ends in that pic, there are a couple of types.
i really want these now

edit:
' Fits pin style endlink & shifter linkage ONLY. Will not fit early Mk1 TT ball/socket style linkages.'

DAMMIT!

Are yours ball type Karl?.
Im pretty sure mines pin type (looked at them earlier today)

yeh unfortunately.
i could change them but, sod it.
if you get them let us know how they feel. i reckon my ball/socket types are pretty darn stiff anyway, seeing as i couldnt get the buggers off once

Waste of money, use sikaflex, much better and still offers same performance.

Karl what you sulking for, your got the forge quick shifters like me, why dont yuo do what i did and change the ****ty ball type ends tothe criclip ones? Cost less than £15 from memory.

Aww just seen your other post, in that case stop bin lazy and change them lol, one of the best cheap mods indid along with the sikaflex.

How can an epoxy rubber offer the same performance as machined alloy?
would you trust a sikaflex wheel?

Haha, fine mate, spend on the 42dd bushes but the sikaflex/tigerseal, whatever you wana use method is used for engine mounts etc, so usig on shifter bushes seems ok, anyway been using the car hard for 2 months with these and its excellent.

And id never use a sikaflex wheel because you Cant buy them :) haha.

Haha.. I too have used Tigerseal to stiffen engine mounts on previous cars.
Unfortunatly there isnt much left of my shifter bushes. I think ill go for it and fit the 42dd ones see how they fare.

Another reason to get the sigmasix short shift! It replaces these with nice rose joint ends. My gearshift is like a new RWD box now with the VF/VT mounts.

Could Andrew mean these: Shift Bracket Bushings ??

I have 42DDs (bushes, not the b00bs :ermm:) and those verdict ones but will install those hopefully for next summer (same time with new engine), so cant give any experiences

What you want is this:

VW Short shifter for 6 speed Golf, Jetta, GTI, GLI, Passat, Audi TT and more.

No messing about solution that shortens every direction. Well made bit of kit too.
