Hi All

Just joinned, was hoping to get some mods done on this car but already run into issues. Car is about 1 week old had 1 previous owner. Wondering if someone has any knowledge on this issue. I have posted a video below via youtube. its my girlfriends car. Specs are:

Audi A3 2.0 FSI Automatic trans 2005 done 58,000

Went to Audi to get a diagnostic done but they found no faults with the gearbox via the ECU, i have also used my ODB via torque to check and nothing comes up.
Audi wants to go on a explorer mission to find the issue which is going to cost ££$$££$.

This only happens when the engine is warm (90c) or around 15-20mins of city driving.
Only in Drive and Reserve.
Going up and down the gears it is not smooth, more jerky.
When going above 2000rpm it sometimes goes into a box of neutrals where it would just rev and you would have to get off the accelerator for a second.

If anyone can help would be very grateful. Thanks anyway for your time!

Hi, I would def get the DSG oil/fluid and filter changed, Mine started to play up last year and started trying to stall and changing to the wrong gears whaen it got warm. Check when it was last done and get it booked in to a VAG specialist or someone that knows what there doing with these boxes as its not as simple as a normal gear box fluid change.

hope this helps

He has an NA engine and multitronic box. Not DSG.

You need a new transmission valve body from what you're saying. Not cheap but they will replace it with a revised part so it shouildnt happen again for the life of the car.

Hi there, I have 2004 model.. Same issue as both of you, and Audi are suggesting a new gearbox after just looking at a sample of the oil, and are wanting aus $15k for the replacement!!

Please tell me you have found a fix for this....I have had this car for under a year... It is otherwise immaculate and I love it, full audi service history and is under 80,000 km.

yes, dont take it to Audi, there rip off merchants. take it to a local automatic gearbox specialist, they'll fix the problem. audi have produced this gearbox in a terrible state, theyre not bothered though theyre more interested in promoting their R8. Anyway it cost me £ 1400 to fix. let us know how you get on with it.

Thanks for the feedback, much apprecited! BTW did you find out what specifically was wrong, so that I can point a specialst in the right direction?
Was it what JPK mentioned "transmission valve body"

Cheers

sorry for the late reply, yes the problem was a worn valve body. I had mine replaced along with the transmission fluid. that came to £1239 all in
