I know a pic would be useful here but there seems to be some kind of valve thing attached to the back box of my S3 with a rubber pipe going somewhere. What's this for and if I plonk for a catback Milltek system, does it come with the same valve?

all it does is the faster you go the more the valve opens giving you a louder exhaust note... and no you don't get that with a milltek.... that just always loud haha

How is this valve controlled?
Can a non S3 (ex 2.0tfsi) get this by just running the vacume hose
the inlet manifold?

Great on track and tunnels, at the same time sivilized in town

Thanks mate, so if I fit a Milltek exhaust, do I just block the rubber pipe with something?

Is it only S3 that have this? Or does my 2.0TFSI have it too.
Will have to go under and check.
If I dont have it does anyone hav a S3 back box for sale with the valve intact?

It is vacuum controlled - I removed it and tied off the valve to have the exhaust flap open all the time when I had the stock exhaust on.

Boydie, is it really noticeable? I'm considering doing this to mine to see what it's like.

There is the same valve on the a3 3.2 v6 and there are some threads on here about removing the long pin that goes through the valve and using steel wire to tie the valve open.

Long pin with 90deg bend to be removed from hole

Long pin removed and now the valve is ready to be tied open with steel wire.

Hopefully this will not cause any alarms as the actuator valve is still connected to the vaccum pipe.
