:icon_thumright: nice one jen ! prob be best to meet some where over durham , as this seems the most central place for everyone to meet . weekend's would be best for me as i do shift work . if anyone has any ideas on where to meet or good coastal run that we could do feel free to mention them !:idea:
 
Hi lads, sorry to drop in the thread like this. Im just wondering if any body has any advice on servicing. I have a 53 Plate A3 and upto now the car has full service history from Dealership, but I feel that for the age of the car, and the fact that all "major" parts have already been replaced (timing belt etc) I would rather use a good independent garage. Im from Hartlepool so garages fairly close would be preferable. Thankss lads.

Welcome fella, your A3 doesnt have a blacked out grill does it? Seen one kicking round town a couple of times..

Ron Tunbulls in Middlesbrough have the best rep for a non-dealer garage for VAG cars - booking mine in there for the cambelt in a few weeks.

Thanks buddy, ive came across his name elsewere on the forum actually. I'll ring tomorrow for a quote.

I see a fair few A3's in Hartlepool and always wonder if there on the forum. Keep an eye out buddy you'll probably see me around, i've only seen one other in the town the same colour as mine. Thanks for your help!
 
im up for a meet guys espesh when the weather is good, why dont we sort somet with jen and have a meet at her unit and check out some products ?

Hi buddy, thanks for the offer. I'm just about to book the car in if i can get hold of Ron Turnbull's. I've heard some pretty good reviews etc. Much appreciated, nice to know that there's somebody on my doorstep if i ever need anything though.

For anybody interested, had my service dont at ron turnbull's today. I've never been before and half expected a run down back street workshop but it seems quite proffesional. Service cost £75 (10k service). Dropped car of at 9am, picked back up at 1pm. Advised to get a new radiator because of small leak so i'll be booking that in shortly but overall. Quite impressed.

A quick question, in my advisory note from the service he explained that my fog lights were not operational. I knew this because I have done the single grille upgrade and never bothered to wire them in. Would this be an MOT fail? As im unsure.
 
Rons is a good place. Used them when I was living up north.

Yes i think it would be a fail as IIRC any lamp fitted to the car must work... Inc fogs.

No, front fogs aren't a testable item. Its a common misconception that any lights fitted to the vehicle must work. Reversing lights is another that isn't a testable item.
Mandatory testable lighting on a class 4 is;
Sidelights
Dipped beam headlights
Main beam headlights
Indicators including side repeaters
Hazard lights
Brake lights including high level
Tail lights
Offside rear fog light
Rear registration plate lights

and thats it. All other lights we aren't interested in

New lad from Stockton,just seen this take it there is not a lot of local meets in the northeast on here? i keep seeing a bright orange A3 around Boro?
 
As Matty has said the the local Vag cars forum has some cracking meets at the Windmill pub on the A19, but i`m also thinking of doing a meet at my unit if people are interested ???
 
I will be up for that,i read about the windmill meet but i work most wed nights so its a no go for me
 
Any of you fancy Cumbria vag show this weekend, Sunday? Only £5 to get in an it usually a good day out.

We are meeting a Durham services at 8.30 sun

I'm thinking of meeting at halfords carpark in bishop Auckland at around 9/10:00am this sunday 12th auguest (I can get a postcode if you need it) then heading towards killhope mine and over hartside pass stopping at hartside cafe for some scran and a opportunity for some awesome photos. After this drive down the other side of the pass which will bring us into Penrith. This is a good chance to refuel or w.e Now from here we can either go into the lakes (Windermere,keswick, Ambleside, etc) or we can head east on the A66 and call at Tan Hill Inn (the highest pub in England) have a cheecky pint there and drive down the awesome road down the other side towards Barnard castle. Then we can end the day either at scotch corner services or back to bishop.

What yaz think lads?
