Audi A3 Black Edition Delivery Times 2011

ordered my ibis white sb BE with almost every extra they had on jan 17 hoping to get it 2nd week MAY the wait is killing me. but wondering if i should order new 3dr A3

The adapters are about £25. I think you get USB as standard. If you've got a nice salesman he might chuck an iPod one in.

I recently ordered an ibis white BE and have been thinking the same thing, but i'm happy with the choice. you've gotta ask yourself how long before we start seeing the first black editions in this country? Quite a while me thinks:think:
 
And she arrived! Worth every second of the wait - she's a beauty and is more than I'd even hoped for... to live up to expectations after 7 months of coveting them on this forum is impressive.

I got an iPod and USB adapter thrown in, there are about 4 total but those 2 are plenty for me - I don't use any devices that wouldn't work with one or the other.

We only signed off on ours last weekend and we are collecting it Good Friday - although for that to happen we had to take one from UK dealer stock. If you do want an S3 BE, it is worth getting your salesman to see what is available at other UK dealers, ours did a trade with their stock to get the one he found for us. Great job by TONBRIDGE AUDI - thanks!
 
Still waiting too. Lease company say that Audi have confirmed delivery to dealer 18th May. So not gone backwards on the last update.
 
Is there still months & months lead time on the Black Editions ?
I ordered mine 4 weeks ago & got an Order confirmation on 13/03/12 Order no 220870**
Vehicle Requsted Input date 2012-02-18
Handover Commitment date 2012-05-30

Hopefully it will be here on the 30th May or have I got it all wrong ? no word of build weeks etc :tocktock:
 
Probably a cancelled order, by the looks of things - i.e. it's already going through the system but the original order has been cancelled (or the dealer just put through a basic car to add options to later), so they've just amended it for you.

I'd expect the waiting times to drop significantly now, though, as the new A3 is coming out so some people will go for the new model 3 door rather than outgoing model 5 door. At the same time, it's still unlikely to drop to 2 months order->delivery.
 
Your either very lucky, Audi have pulled their socks up or it was already on order for stock or a customer cancellation. Ordered
mine beginning of feb and been told end of July. So 6 months approx just like most of the guys on here

I heard about mine yesterday and was told its on track but may slip as things are slipping at the factory in prep for the new A3 to be built.... Who knows eh!

Still no confirmed build week but he is adament it's going to be at the end of march and we have had a few new ones from this dealer and has kept his word so far...... The end is close.....

When I spoke to Audi UK they told me the factory NEVER tells what has caused/is causing delays and that dealers just make **** up.
 
I think that's unfair - far more likely is that they see x many delayed cars with a single shared feature and decide for themselves, with mixed accuracy. The salesman on the ground may even have been told a reason by his boss, assume it comes from Audi UK when in fact it's just their boss looking at the numbers.

There's also nothing to say that all cars are being delayed for the same reason. A shortage of metallic paints may mean a shortage of metallic cars
- With a knock on effect that more non-metallic and pearlescent cars get made for a while (bumped up the queue while the metallic isn't available).
- But pearlescent cars may on average have more options, causing an unexpected shortage in RNSe's because they're making more higher spec cars.
- In turn, that delays non-metallic/pearlescent cars which was specced with an RNSe, because there aren't enough.

Dealer 1 tells customers that there's a shortage of metallic paint, all their metallic paint cars are being delayed.
Dealer 2 tells customers that there's a shortage of RNSe's, all their cars with the technology pack option are being delayed.

Making it up as they go along, or calling it as they see it?

Could well be true... My dealer does seem to know more than most that I have read on hear but that doesn't mean he is right!

i live in San francisco
ordered mine back in December should be seeing it around the week of May 7th its all ready on the ship to the US
 
2 week slippage on mine. Now build week 20, should be at the dealer end May.

I spoke with Bolton Audi last week, who told me end May. They mentioned that there was a delay on the Black Edition alloys. Might be a bit of BS though.
 
The delay on the Black Edition alloys is most likely true.
I ordered my s-line w/c 13th Feb and is being delivered this week, 9 weeks total.
(not a BE but just thought id let people know:icon_thumright:)

Not really seen any A3 in Ibis round here.

All seem to be black ones with the older style S Line Alloys in Gunmetal grey and the odd A4.

Having said that I will go out later and they will be everywhere !
 
My Sportback BE took 5 months from order on 19th Sept '11 to pre-delivery inspection on 17th Feb '12. Told the dealer to hang onto it for 2 weeks and I took delivery on 3rd March '12 so it qualifies as a 12 plate.
 
ordered my SB B/E ibis white on 17 jan just been advised it will be here in 3 weeks. so looking at 3 months from order.

fingers crossed.
 
Mine was ordered mid Jan 2012. Del was due for 4 may. Just got confirmation today that the car has been built and is awaiting shipment to the UK.

The wait is not long now.
 
The last few must be being made now.... Noticed on the Audi website you can no longer order it and half the options have gone for the current A3. The new one is getting closer......still happy I made the right choice.

Update: now build week 21 (w/c 21st May), slipped a further week. Delivery June. Dealer maintains that the BE Alloys are causing the delay. :gun2:

That sucks mate, not good! I haven't heard any change in mine as yet but no doubt it will be coming... It better be worth it!!
 
Got to keep this thread alive!!

I have had confirmation that mine has been built. It's awaiting to be shipped to UK. That was last week. Audi might still make the estimated delivery date of 4 May but I seriously doubt it.
