Hi,

Can anybody tell me if they have dealt with or know a company than will sell a DPF delete pipe on it's own.
Any help appreciated.

Dave

I've been looking around myself actually.

You could ask AMD? They do a DPF delete and map so might sell the pipe on its own. I've started a thread in the AMD section on here asking about DPF & EGR delete and map. I guess you could always add a post asking if they'll sell the pipe seperately - I'd be interested in that myself. I was thinking of using AMD but they are miles away. I asked Lion Garage (On here) about it and they can do the job but waiting on the pipe being made up.

i know ppl that will supply and fit but not only supply

You could try a custom exhaust place, I had a custome mid-section made by Powerflow years ago. Don't see why they couldn't bend an exhaust pipe to the right shape etc. They tend to use the original flanges though, so your DPF would be unusable afterwards (guessing that's part of the reason you want the part itself?).

When I had the mid-section if was about £120 for a stainless steel pipe. I'm guessing here, but why they couldn't make you a replacement pipe for under £200 I'm not sure... give them a ring, worth a shot.

wow £700 all in
shocking

Do you think that is too much?

Every place I've asked for DPF removal and map have quoted £700 or as near as.

I emailed MAS Performance about selling the pipe seperately but they never came back to me.

I've got mine booked in for next month having a remap, EGR deleted & DPF gutted and mapped out for £400. Although that doesn't include any new parts as it's removning the innards of the DPF rather than replacing it with a straight pipe...

But you can't just remove the DPF, you will need to have the ECU edited so that it doesn't try to regenerate and keep throwing errors on the dash (and probably put your car into limp mode).

Is the EGR being removed or just de-activated?

Not keen on the gutting route - I'm after a replacement pipe for the DPF for better airflow of exhaust gases.

It seems AMD gut the DPF and re-fit. To me that would cause turbulent gases through the exhaust system and not be good for airflow.

It is a PITA having so few aftermarket items for these cars. Its a pain coming from Subaru since everyone and his friend has a hand in Snakeoil 101 for the Imprezas.

Not physically removed, just blanked off and deactivated. The reason I'm going down this route (as with the DPF modification), is that IF in the future MOT stations check for a DPF it looks like I have one, same with the EGR.

Not that anyone will ever check, but to drive a car with an altered emissions system is illegal (as far as I know, this was the general concensus I got from a lot of searching...) - atleast if it LOOKS like I still have a DPF, anyone who chooses to 'inspect' it won't be able to tell it's be modified.

Straight pipe would no doubt give slightly better airflow though I agree. Be useful it anyone has driven a same spec car with the DPF 'gutted' and with the DPF actually replaced with a pipe to give an opinion on performance?

I spoke to 5 or 6 different companies when shopping around and researching my remap/DPF, all of the ones I spoke to said they didn't bother fitting a new pipe as it was expensive, didn't offer any benefit, and IF the MOT regs etc are changed in the future you don't end up having to put your DPF back on (DPF there or not isn't detectable via emissions as it reduces soot).

Thanks for replies.
My car has suffered a loss of oil pressure, the garage have still to completely diagnose the full extent of work needing done but do know that the DPF is completely choked. They have said that every DPF they have had like this they have managed to unblock with a combination of solvent and steam cleaning but worst case scenario is a new one will be a new one. I grudge shelling out for a new one and would rather just do away with it when we are at this point. I realise that it will need remapping and sorting out electronically to run like this.
I emailed MAS and they do not supply the pipe on it's own. It is annoying as I'm not trying to do my own thing and save money and do them out of business. So I will try elsewhere.
If I find anybody who will supply the pipe I will put it up on this thread.

DPF bypass pipes are expensive to buy & although the maximum air flow efficiency is not achieved by removing DPF internals from original casing, it is the most cost effective option.

DPF's are not part of MOT as of yet, & only smoke tests are carried out on diesels.

There are alot of people offering cheap remaps, but be aware that not much development has gone into these & will cause smoking from diesel cars, this could be a risk come MOT time & the smoke test is carried out.

my quattro passed the mot 2 weeks ago with no problems full dpf delete and remap done 5 months ago

the old saying comes to mind to good to be true  my car smokes a little but not that much hence passing the mot.it cost me £600
best thing i did

I wonder if you could have a small pipe made up and welded to the inside of the DPF filter casing? So cut box open, remove the filter, weld in a pipe internally and then weld the box back up. Would be a bit more than just straight forward gutting but at least you'd have a straight through airflow and standard looking system for MOT time.

It would be great to get some back to back testing on the same car with the same map and see if there is any noticeable difference.

I guess though that even if you pay £700 or whatever for the work you are still likely to get an off the shelf map as apposed to car specific map? Similar thing with Impreza and ECUTEK software. You either got an off the shelf map or a custom map that suited the other mods you'd made to the car - it wasn't always that clear in the early days exactly what you were going to get for your money.

Its a shame these cars haven't caught on with tuners, assuming the engine doesn't lunch itself with all this oil pump shenannigans I'm sure they'd make a decent base to "tune" a diesel engine. Not that I wouldn't prefer to start off with a petrol engine obviously.

have you tried longlife exhausts clive done my 170 quattro full dpf delete and remap

On B7 Audi's we can gut your existing DPF and provide a custom remap including the DPF delete for £500.

DPF's are very good at what they do, removing particulates and therefore virtually eliminating smoke. You need to be comfortable with the fact the car will smoke more with it deleted. On full throttle, the amount of smoke is propotional to the amount of diesel injected, and basically more diesel = more power. We can counter the smoke production to degree by modifying injection timing. It's then upto the owner to decide on the smoke/power balance and we can adjust to suit.

Was that a gut and re-weld or replacement pipe?

I emailed a few companies the other day, if Longlife wasn't one of them I'll give them a call on Tuesday.

Can someone pm me a full price on dpf removal and remap please? and also let me know how long it roughly takes as i'm looking at this being done one day this week.

Thanks, (and sorry for the thread hijack)

Paul.

Thanks again,
