T1R- brilliant tyre, ran them for years, and absolutely loved them. Held up OK for the odd track session too.

T1R sport - not heard of these, you sure it's not just a naming error?

Toyo proxes 4 - heard good reviews about these, although they seem to be more of a comparable tyre to the T1R than a step up, from what I've read I'd still take the T1R over these.

Falken FK452's - ran these for the past year and found them to be very good indeed. Grip isn't quite as good as the toyos, and not so in the wet either, most noticable under braking where traction is reduced, but considering the price, and the fact that they last longer, they're a ****** good buy!

Prada spec 2: a strange one, these are the tyres that on your 'average' car forum like ASN/UKmkivs/SCN everybody absolutely raves about how great they are *even on track!!!!* (which means they've done 4 laps at Combe once and didn't crash)

Yet if you go onto some more serious specific track orientated forums, prada spec 2's are the biggest joke going, like the myth of ebc greenstuff pads. They seem to be the unexperienced mans dream come true, yet the experienced mans worst nightmare.....

I'd go with the T1R's if you do low mileage, or the FK452's if you do lots of miles.

Second all this, like said with the prox 4's t1r's are much better for the small price diff I found

I have run FK452's more or less since owning my car... as Prawn has said they aren't as grippy as some but for the cash they can't be beaten IMO... I don't drive on the edge but I have yet to be surprised by them and I don't drive quick in the wet anyway...

<tuffty/>

Thankyou very much Prawn and everybodyelse,
The Prada is as you say... one the "lads down the pub" in a mapped corsa's choice, I ran them very breifly on another set of wheels, They gave terrible road noise, I never had a chance to push the car with them on,
I do around 13k a year in the car ,
My last car spun out on me ( dirty surface and a driver pulling out ) so i dont want nylon tyres but i cant afford to replace them every 3 months.
I guess im looking for the magical tyre that does all things for budget money
The Falkens come in at £74 each
The toyo T1r comes in at £90 each
Yoko Prada s2 is £100 per corner.
Are there any other options ??

To be honest I would go for the fulkise if you want them to last and still be good for the cash, my mate has these on his s3 at the mo, he drives like a loon and they have lasted him well

I've got a set of Vredestein Sessanta's on mine, 225 40 18 and for Me, they're brilliant. I don't push My car too hard but have been known to give it some stick and they're coping well so far!
Got them from Elite in Essex, about £92 each if I remember.

I agree with the comments, that falken's are a good bet!,toyos and yoko's great, but wear like a treat!

Iv never had any of those tyres. I always find myself being drawn to branded tyres. Iv not long had pirelli pzero rossos, one of the cheaper branded tyres you can get. Great grip in the dry, pretty good grip in the wet, which for me is important. Tyre wear seems good. Braking is very good. Only downside is road noise on certain surfaces is quite alot.

I'd probably go for the t1r's out of your list based on what I'm always being told by mates

I run falkens too.

But after sourcing tires for a friend and reading countless tests and reviews hancook v12 ventus evo kept appearing, my friend got them and is extremely happy. I think i might consider them next time, slighty more expensive than falkens but have great all round results.

Id also if i was willing to spend it, go for the vredestein sessantas, again great reviews.

Just read as many rwviews as possible, decide yourself, youd be ****** off if yiu went in rwcomendation and didn't like them.

I fitted Toyo T1r to the old R32 skyline but that was **** end happy regardless.
I then went up an inch and fitted the falkens, I never pushed the car in corners or wet so can not use that as a gauge

I have toyo proxies and they are good in the wet but thats me coming from having budget tyres as im a tight ****!

Guessing the kumhos have had it then mate?

I have same as Sportstractor, pzero rosso's are really good. Just suffer slight road noise. I had falkens before and think I'll go back to them when these are worn out. Cheaper and very good for everyday driving.

get the falkens mate, they're the perfect blend of cost and performance, and last well too. I got over 20k from my last set.

I brought some Falken FK452 to replace my conti sport 2's at the front, and was so impressed brought some for the rear as well. Never had a problem with them and road noise and feesback are great :)

Prawn. I really do mate.
Please pm me if you would think about selling some?

Had some good results with Falkens and kumho's. I'm now running Cooper zeon 2, all good so far. I have also heard some good things from a friend running some maragoni tyres on his s4.

Had toyo proxies on the subaru and they gripped very well, but after 15 laps on mondello there were not the best for wear. I have the falkens on the S3 and after 15 laps with them, they showed very little wear, They are a harder tyre and will last long with a little bit of comprimise in performance, and defo not as good in the wet

How would you say they compare grip wise? wet/dry. I would have gone for the falkens but was massively pressed for time and noone local had them.... And even more annoyingly they gained a side wall slice 2 weeks after fitting... Which failed the cars MOT...

If you're looking at Falkens consider the ZE912s I think they're better than the 452s in the wet.

I don't know a great deal about car tyres (but everything about motorbike tyres so I like a lot of grip)

My current car had the Dunlop sportmax when I first bought it but hated the tyres. I then went with sport contact 3's which I quite liked a lot more.

When I bought the 18's I went for Potenza RO5's which seemed on par with the conti's but I had expected them to be better.

I've now got the Hankook ventus v12 evo's on the front which I regret as they are crap in the wet so I'm always appreciative of threads like this, wont be buying them again. Every bodies comments about the Toyo and Falkens is inline with what I've read before so I might try these next.

My previous Audi A4 had Pirelli's P6000s which I loved but that was a Quattro so it's hard to estimate what they'd be like on my 2wd A4 although I used them over and over again on my other cars between the 2 Audis with great results, they don't last particularly long but I suppose that's because they grip well so I think if you have a grippy tyre it will never last that long.

I bought Marangoni for a Pug years ago and hated those also, it had P7's before which were really sticky.

I had Hankook Ventus Prime on a Mondeo in 2005 and they lasted 29k on the front and 41k on the back and I drive like a **** most of the time so was very pleased with them seeing as they were standard kit and gripped so well.

Not really sure what to try next on the front, would like to try some Michelin or Goodyear but they are generally expensive so might go with what I know if I can find a good deal on Pirelli as experience tells me they always grip well and are also great in the wet.

It's hard to take a gamble when its such a big outlay, who know's I might try the Kumho Ecsta as they seem to have a good write up for a value tyre......

Dilemma Dilemma Dilemma :scared2:

I have run Avon zz3`s for years but have a pair of 452 falkens on as well now both feel ok and look ok on 235/35/19

once fitted toyos forgot which but they looked like 225 when they were on the rim , didn`t like the stretched look which made the car look strange to say they were both 235.

part worns, i got 2 p-zeros fitted for 60 quid, 4-5 mm tread, happy days

I'd take a serious look at the Hankook S1 Evo (K107).

Its a budget oriented tyre which seems to be what your looking for, but it actually works. It got all sorts of reviews and awards over the last few years and put a lot of more expensive rubber to shame.

Take a look on tyrereviews at the magazine group tests to see whats hot and whats not, for instance:

2012 EVO Max Performance Tyre Test | the online tyre guide
Theres more on the sidebar under "Summer Tyre Tests"

Even the worst tyre typically grips alright in the dry for most day to day driving, so its wet weather that really shows a tyres strengths. I run Eagle F1 Asy2's on my cars, and they quite simply stick like glue. I dont have to slow down when it rains, i can still happily throw the car round corners at the same speed i would in the dry, they're that good.

The T1R i've used before and found them poor in the wet. The Paradas are absolutely lethal in the wet. Never driven on FK452's but they're getting a bit long in the tooth these days, and tyres like the Hankook S1 Evo will easily outperform it, for similar money. Tyre tech is moving forwards all the time, you should be moving with it, not staying with the same old tyre year after year.

What i find really amusing is out of all the components on the car to make it drive better on the road, tyres are THE most important, yet so many people seem to have their hot hatches tuned up to stupid levels of power and yet run them on whatever cheapcrap tyres they can find.

Whats the point spending all that money on suspension, braking and engine upgrades, when you have some plastic ditch finders on the car? I'd much rather have my car running on standard soggy springs and have top notch tyres on there, than top notch suspension and **** tyres!

Parada`s grip wise are awesome for a normal road tyre its just the sidewalls are quite soft and they wear out very quickly from being soft so on track they`ll heat up a sh*t load. Think thats where they get slated on a track site compared to a normal forum. I`ve had them fitted to a few cars and loved them and they were cheap as! Back in the day say 4 years ago they were £128 a set for 195/50/15 which i used on the Civic and yaris. Plus they have an awesome tread pattern lol.

Absolutely leathal in the wet though! But just so soft. Enough for me to get through a whole set on the Yaris in 1000miles round MK but that was gunning it everyday :p
