Alriteeeee....

Thought I would ask a bit of advice.

Im a massive n00b when it comes to Engine Mods but have been given a few ideas by a mate who has a heavily modded (but very subtle) Audi TT.

My first thought before a Stage 1 Revo Remap is a new Intake Kit.

The one I have been advised would be good for my BE is a Carbonio Intake from Awesome GTI - Awesome - Carbonio Intake 2.0TSI.

Has anybody had any experience with this particular kit?

In the next couple of months I'm also looking at upgrading the engine mounts, new brushes, short shift kit. Plus a few other bits but can't remember what they were.

Thoughts and ideas?

I have a ITG MAXOGEN INTAKE IN MY S3. I buy this from REVO and it runs perfectly and a won more RPM.

The forge twintake and the CARBONIO from APR are very good stuff.

Best of the current intakes is the ITG.

Also recommended by Revo.

I've run both kits on my last 8P2.

Carbonia for show, ITG for go. The two are barely comparable, and whilst I tend to like OEM look, the Carbonia was a massive disappointment. ITG is in a different league.

I'd hold off buying for a month or two as I hear there may be a revised kit for the ITG arriving towards the mid point of the year that has a more OEM look (would be a bolt on for the original kit). If I hear any more I will post.

Looks like the Carbonia is fitted with the std engine cover ??
Listen to Warren when making a choice Cruiser, he's been there done that :)

Are you running the Std airbox at the moment Warren ? Will there be a point when you have Revo 1 and your CAI fitted ? Revo are claiming +40bhp for a ITG !!!!!!!!! on a golf edition 30. Seems difficult to believe ?

Maybe on a mapped car?

This is what they say Alex

During testing on a fully modified Golf Edition 30, this kit gave an incredible 44 bhp at the wheels increase when compared to the OEM intake. By allowing the turbo to maintain boost for longer, peak power was raised from 5,200 rpm up to 6,200 rpm and the engine pulled strongly all the way to the red line - gains this large won't be seen on every car, but shows what this intake is capable of.

I would be tempted for 40bhp but it seems a bit odd... i would expect maybe 15bhp. Maybe the Golf has a really restrictive airbox.

I can believe it makes well over 20 as the standard air box is an absolute work around after-thought.

ITG looks home made Paddy, I think the construction with multiple pipes and turns was most universal option for making it fit all platforms and upgrade options. It's always been a bit of an ugly ducking but by god is it good.

Once I've done enough miles with std airbox I will whack it on car and see how she runs ore Stg2+.
