Reesy's Big Turbo A3

Those calipers did not look safe. I didn't feel confident with fitting them ad brakes are so important.

Jay came into his own this time. Had a load of good ideas when we were stuck getting bolts of and was a good strong set of hands again.

We nearly lost a rear wheel when we went out for the VCDS logging session!

What happened with the wheel?

Lots of work done then reesy. Pics look good. Glad jay was there to help you and westy out. The car is making some real progress now reesy.
Keep up the good work.

If these updates were exciting this thread would be a winner!
Up at 8am this morning to get this mofo done.

Excuse the messy boot and dirty car, it's only temporary.

all that for a spoiler!?

looks sooooo much better with it tho. good man!
tell me about it mate! Because it's a genuine s3 spoiler but the a3 doesn't come with the mountings it had to be tigersealed on, meaning it was easier to swap the tailgate rather try and rip that spoiler off and re stick it. Also, the old boot has a slight dent in it.

Car looks a lot sportier and meaner now as well. Only trouble is my the bootlid from the new car had the ariel in the glass, and the one that's on there now doesn't so I have no radio at the moment, but I can sort that in time

Nice bit of effort gone in there reesy lad. Looking good, even if it's gahey blue ;)

The new tailgate and spoiler looks really good reesy. Just keep up the work, its worth it. You have made amazing progress in the last few
weeks. Whats next on the list?

When I go back to the 'rents for xmas I will give the car a full service, a wash and possibly a clean inside. I also have my xcarlink and parrot phone kit being put back in. Might have a look at boost gauge fitting as well, but that's not a high priority. I will get the seats in this week or very soon after xmas.

Nice one reesy.
It does look like its worth the hassel. well done

lean the boot lid on the car?

Definitely worth the hassle, can't believe how much of a difference it has made and I can't believe how dirty the bootlid I took off was. It was horrible and a sign that I probably should wash the car.
Had some little foam pads to stop it touching the car and the floor, i'm not that much of a cowboy!

People with slow internet don't worry, there are no pictures in this post..

Just an update that I have ordered a cruise control set up and comfort indicators that I will be fitting/getting someone else to fit over the christmas

dude sorry to post on ur theard my laptops playing up wont let me reply to ur pm can u pm me ur number and ill call u asap??

Front seats are in. Got them in late this afternoon. Pics to follow at a more normal hour.
Also topped up the power steering fluid and the noise when steering has now all but disappeared. Great success!

Lol, its sounding like you will need another lnm at westys to do the cruise control fitting etc. your making good progress now so keep at it. I
hope your enjoying the break at your parents.

You have alloys Scott you just need tyres ;)

Bout fkn time too ;) :pics:
Pot calling kettle black. How's that remap coming along?
I thought you said you'd checked the steering fluid after I mentioned it at mine

Good work on the seats, let's see some pics.
I don't remember this, but if I did say that: I lied. Was really low, and now there is no whine whilst turning the wheel. It's like heaven.

I hope not Sandy, although the car electronics man hasn't shown his face yet, and not sure if he will before I go back :( :(
I agree.

fkn slow *** yut.
It best be worth it or I might have to have me some new alloys. :)
How's that rear blind coming along? Got the buttons sorted and got the boot trim tidied up? No? I didn't think so

I got 5 18" S4 rims sat out back with tyres.
And I am grateful that you have :salute:

Let Papa Reesy have a drive of the car last night and he was impressed, especially by the way it handles with the bigger ARB. I think that has convinced him that the S4 would be better of with a bigger ARB as well.

Over the xmas period (aptly named as it is a ****** pain!) the car also got a service, some halfrauds ultra bright main beam bulbs, re connection of the rear screenwash hose and a hoover inside. Car is running as sweet as a nut now, just hope I'm not about to jynx it!

And in other news, I will be getting a 3" Downpipe in March thanks to a chat with Mr Welly, and a re calibration within my brain which now means it thinks that £400 for a DP is 'good value'. When I signed up to ASN, it was because my rear washer didn't work. Even this time last year I laughed at spending £400 on less then 1/2 the exhaust, how things change. :racer:

Now I would normally moan and whine about people that update progress threads with 'I have washed my car' but I have washed my car.
I have only owned it since October! After washing it last week, I have got the bug back and washed it again today.

Last weeks offending water:

and the car now clean:

Slow month as funds are loooow, but next month will bring lots of changes (I hope)

nice progress reesy keep up the good work

A few little free changes to keep the thread flowing, as I think most will agree, January is a gruesome month for the finances.

What did you use to do that? Mine are the same in my car. And stereo, A/C buttons.

I would imagine he bought new ones.... :)

<tuffty/>
Almost right, I swapped them from my breaker. The breaker was the first of the facelift (x) but didn't suffer at all from the facelift wear issues as it was a shinier surface then the more matt like finish on my current a3's hvac/ cup holder etc....

Very good progress. Good to see the car clean as well.

Weekend was a bit ofa fail. Got my cruise control in (thanks Scott Bumpkin5) but cant get it working, didn’t get chance to get comfort indicators in and managed to ge tphone kit in but my assistant snipped the microphone wire when nipping a cable tie. But as they say in where ever it is, the show must go on.
Bought a new microphone that I’ll fit on the weekend and I’ll try and have a look at the CCS wiring whilst I am at it.

Managed to blag a go in Bumble whilst I was dropping some bits at Welly’s. That car is beyond awesome, but that’s not for my thread as it’s a fkn S3.

Did some logging on Sun and got 210bhp as a rough guesstimate using the 0.8 rule. This makes me very happy, as it’s a higher reading then last time, which goes someway towards putting the rumours of my dieing turbo to bed.

Oh, and I have just ordered £170 worth of silicone hosing, alloy hosing and JCS Hi-grip clamps. Just got to decide on whether to go with the Welly cooler or not, due to my meagre bhp. Any opinions?

It's not about how much BHP you do or don't have IMO. It is about allowing the air to flow as best as it can into the engine, with the least resistance possible. These coolers do a fantastic job of just this.

On the other hand, a smaller Toyosports cooler (like the one you saw on my mate's Golf) is about £50 or there abouts from memory, and will be ample. It should flow as well I would think.

The car kit now works :jump: Got the new microphone mid week and got it fitted on Sunday, took around 40 mins and looks like it was fitted by someone who's knows what they are doing, although that wasn't the case, it was fitted by me.
