what u guys think?? waste of money or a cheap tweak??

I have another idea.....fit 5 of these, and then you won't use any fuel at all....:)

yeah good point minus the bad sarcasm... another redex for modern car type scam then...
hmmm the best outcome is prob to get this rubbish British government to cut there fuel taxes (when pigs fly). If that ever happens my tdie car is out and i think a s3 comes to mind :)

Any sarcasm wasn't directed at you, merely the fact that these things are still around.....

what that plug in revo thing ? with the little dial on it
Revo Technik SPS Switching Device - YouTube
another scam ?

No, a vital piece of kit actually.

Means I can disable the throttle body so even if keys were taken car can't be driven, I have 3 pre-settable performance modes, can switch back to stock for dealer visits. Not to be mentioned in the same breath as this magnetic tat!

seen you post before what are your thoughs on a fwd 140 tdi? and can this be used on others i.e remap friends car

From what i can gather it doesn't actually remap the car, just merely tweaks the code in the ecu that has already been mapped. (Requested boost/fuelling/timing).

Hence Revo (currently) giving it you with a remap.

Can be used to tweak map settings / enable /disable map on any VAG car that has Revo code installed on it, will not map a car. Just a fine tune mechanism.

think i get it

You have to ask yourself how a magnet is going to improve fuel economy, and why the major manufacturers, who are constantly fighting over who's car offers the best mileage don't fit them.

that's bcuz it is such a easy way to improve fuel economy, if one mfg implements it to get an upper leg, then everybody will do it, and they all end up in square one. They got to keep arsenals like this in their pocket (along with 100psi tires) so that when they are forced to increase fuel efficiency, one of these bags of tricks will be pulled out once in a while.

You are having a laugh right?....you don't really believe this works....

Similar, but the difference is you have a desktop PC package that you connect your SPS to by USB, and you configure your own pre-selectable boost / timing / fuelling, within safe adjustment parameters and then you disconnect it, stick it in the car and upload it.

Base code takes ages to load, so the mapping tables could not be held on SPS device as it hasnt got sufficient storage, it just allows user to tweak code as they wish for new mods / changing weather conditions (eg significant increase in ambient air temps in summer), or so you can switch map off for service.

I'll do a video on how it works over Xmas.

U got a point but readin on the topic its BS, ask my mate goin mech engineerin he goes its BS so answer lads its BS

But the point u make is good, eg. the hybrid cars VW made a useable engine in 2008 but aint make it public yet because they want to less all the tdie engines and bluemotion engines to the max before they bring the next gen out. U gotta keep it fresh that rule applies to anythin tv's ect...

^ that post was to LWNY still dunno how to work this blogin stuff

works or not, but if fuel saving does not sell cars, then they won't put 5 pence of R&D into it.

Its like the safety features, earlier on, selling safety implies your car was dangerous in the first place, so tell the gubmint to not legislate any safety requirements....that was until some mfg thought otherwise and decided to do it on their own.

Same goes for fuel saving, 150 stone car saves much more fuel than a 300 stone one, but small doesn't sell (especially here in the states) given when one build a 300 stone car, everybody will want to build one too or else they would be at a disadvantage with their 150 stone one...and that's what everybody did.

The point though was that there is no evidence that this thing works in any review or test, and that was the subject of the original question.....over on this side of the pond, where fuel is way more costly than your side, manufacturers DO put a lot of work into making small, economical cars(as well as the big thirsty ones) because the little ones with good economy DO sell.
