Hey guys,

After a long 6 months I finally have my new A3 and Im over the moon with it :)

SO a bit of the spec...

Audi A3 Black Edition in Ibis White
1.8Tfsi 160bhp Manual
Cruise Control
Rear Parking
Auto rain/light pack
Interior light pack
Folding Mirrors
Bluetooth
Bose
Half Leather & cloth
White Stitching
Privacy Glass

Its an awesome car and feels so much more powerful than my 1.6. It pulls in all the right places and really happy with its performance. Loving the lights both back and front. The seats feel really good and don't hurt my back as much as my Technik did.

As with everything I do have a few gripes, the dealer didn't do a very good job with the cleaning, smear marks on the glass and black inlays. The bluetooth functionality is very basic compared to my work 11plate Audi A6.

So here are a few pics of it from my iPhone (Shame its rained non-stop since I picked it up)

Since I've had it, already plugged in VCDS and changed a few bits around to how I like my Audi's.

- Chirp on lock/unlock
- Set what conditions my auto lights turn on
- Scandinavian Mode (Rear lights on when on side lights)
- TPMS
- Main Beam Assist (Haven't tested but a try to see if it works)

Am gonna try and see what other things I can get going :) Going to give it a proper clean this weekend down at the Audi compound. Clay, Meguiars Step 1/2, Jetseal, Wax etc.

So planned upgrades (Quite a bit I will be doing this weekend):

- Stage 1 Remap at 1000miles (Undecided which company to go with as don't know much about the differences (If anybody can help me out with this I would be grateful))
- S3 Aluminium pedals
- Mk2 HD RNS-e and AMI (Both sat in my garage waiting to be fitted)
- Tracker Unit (Lower's insurance)
- Twin Lazer jammers hidden in the front grill
- RoadPilot speed camera system (Hardwired in)
- Onboard Smartwitness CCTV unit (Lower's insurance)
- Interior LED upgrade courtesy of EM Tunning
- RS3 Grill (Possibly going to order within the month)
- Philips H11 Bulbs for the Fogs.

Thanks :)

Great car mate - congrats!

Anyone know which countries actually have the chirp on lock / unlock activated?

take pitty on me and let me have those wheels

just cos i am a scouser cheeky B*****d:eiertritt:

love the drls woop

Looks good mate!

Does the high beam assist work? And I didn't know you could activate TPMS via VCDS(?)

Where are you sourcing your RS3 grille from?

What are them lights called (front)? very very nice!

That is a really beautiful car. Nice spec, and I love the wheels. I hope you enjoy it and have many safe happy miles.

What a lovely looking motor dude! Nice to read about the software mods you have done.

TBH, I would like to do those on mine. However, being a lease car not sure if it should/can be done without affecting warranties or agreements etc.

Anyway, have safe and trouble free driving..................

p.s Mine is better than yours! lol

I was just wondering the same tbh. My understanding of TPMS is that it has a physical part as well as software? e.g Sensors, wiring loom and dashboard switch? I do regret not choosing this option. eh well.

Not sure was High Beam assist offers either.

Can you explain any further please Cruiser?

Thanks

Just answered my own question : Good ole Google eh :whistle2:

Audi Worldwide > advice > Glossary > High-beam assistant

This must mean it's already functional on mine, I have the bi-xenons with adaptive range control. Hmmmmm

Thanks for all the nice comments... :) Its an amazing car.

I haven't had a chance to test the High beam yet so I will let you know...

@bigman75 - High beam assist lets you drive with your main beams on and as soon as the car "sees" another car it dips them down automatically

Anyone could shed some light on activate TPMS via VCDS? How do you do that? Does it not require any wiring?

In regards to TPMS it seems that Audi have changed their ways. It use to work on tyres, circumference, revolutions and pressure. So if the pressure went down in the tyre it would change how fast the wheel would revolve... It seems on the new cars (ie mine) this isn't the case. As soon as I installed and coded, I got an error on my DIS.

Ok guys...

So I got a bit bored at home today so decided to install my MK2 RNSe and its so good compared to my MK1 (This is for sale now, PM if interested)

Here are a few pics of the install:

Old Concert out and loom/aerial unplugged

My old GPS aerial about to go in

If you look closely, there is a hole in the top of the dash where I mounted the GPS. There is a little ledge up and slightly to the left.

---

GPS installed and the excess wire is cable-tied and "cloth taped" to the original loom to make it look as OEM as possible.

As I have BOSE I need to swap the BOSE pin in the blue block.

---

IMG_2941.jpg

The BOSE pin was originally in pin 5 and needs to be relocated to pin 7. Unfortunately one of the AUX pin outs is already in pin 7, so I removed that and will relocate it to its correct pin outs when I install AMI

---

IMG_2942.jpg

You can now see that the brown wire which is BOSE has now been relocated

Here is the brand spanking new RNSE MK2

---

IMG_2943.jpg

Here is the unit all plugged back in

---

All that was needed was to install Navigation (37) in Can Gateway (19), activate telephone on the RNSe and change the splash screen to S3 (Because it looks coooooool - ha)

Now I just gotta fill this up with some music :p

Thanks for the reply

But afaik the high beam assist worked with a photo sensor to sense the oncoming light? Would be good to knowif it does work on yours just by coding

So am I right in reading that TPMS didn't work for you?

Non smoking pack - Nice.

As for the main beam assist - you need a completley different rearview mirror with a sensor in it. (not the one with the sensor for rain or autodimming).

great car and nice work mate, but would it be worth removing the sat nav pic as it seems to show exactly where you live?
