£1600 for a set of genuine Audi alloys..............Ouch......(pictures)

Old car at top, new car at bottom.

Cost to buy a new set of genuine Audi alloys as per top picture is £1600 although i have knocked them down to £1280. Still blo0dy expensive, but it would finish of what is otherwise a near perfect car.

Any thoughts.
 
My own personal opinion is that I cant believe you've paid that kind of money for those alloys. I dont mean I'm shocked at spending that amount of money, just more shocked at the alloys you've picked when that was your budget.

But each to their own dude :)

Wow! Yes they look better but at that cost?!!?!

I've been looking at OEM 19" A4 rotor alloys for £995 on the bay from Huntingdon Audi. My local dealer wanted £2800 for RS3 rims, so Audi will skank you hard. I'm pleased you are happy with them but surely there was a cheaper way of sourcing them?

I'm not sure you understand. The top picture is my old car, and those are the alloys it had. The bottom picture is my new A3, bought last month from Northampton Audi, 14k on the clock. Its in near perfect condition, but the only thing is i'm not that keen on the alloys. I enquired about getting a set, like my old ones (pic at top). Best price i can get is £1280.

I haven't bought them yet.
 
Search eBay, buy a second hand set of your old wheels for pennies probably compared to Audis price

In that case it's all good, as for £1280 you can get a lot of alloy.

Are you dead set on the same again as they're not a wheel you see that regularly.

Here's a set for £195 that need some love and hypersilver paint: GENUINE AUDI A4 A6 S4 17" RONAL ALLOY WHEELS BLACK ET45 | eBay

£200 for a refurb, £195 for the rims, less than £400 all in, and you have £800 in hand. Job done!
 
Some of the comments in this thread :lmfao: As the others have said dont be silly and dont spend that much on standard alloys. Keep an eye on ebay there always a set of them on there and for alot cheaper.

They are not very common, but they are the ones i like. I have thought about going the route you suggest, which i did with my old A3. It was just so much hassle, misadvertised, dodgy ebay sellers,etc,etc.

Any other alternatives except ebay or new from dealer. I'd like the genuine Audi ones above.
 
And also bear in mind what you can sell the current ones for once you change them. They look in pretty good knick.
 
Or keep both and run summer and winter tyres.

There are a couple of companies that do alloy wheel exchange (Monty's Wheels and Tyres near Reading is one, and then I think there are a couple of companies in Birmingham and London that do alloy wheel exchange and wheels have to be of a certain standard to be taken in part ex) - don't have any links for the big ones.

Might be worth registering an interest and see if any come up, then putting an advert in the classifieds of this forum in the wanted section.
 
Just my opinion, but the 5 spoke ones look much nicer anyway? The top ones kinda look like plastic hub cap allow lookalikes!

I thought that too.

They look like the fake alloys you get from Halfords. The bottom ones look way better and more up to date.
 
Seen various sets of those on ebay/gumtree in good condition for around £350

that dog picture ^ had me laughing .

much better OE wheels for that cash mate :-0

The part number i got was from Audi yesterday. They put my reg in the computer and came out with a set of options.

As for some that prefer the ones i have, i can understand that, its just my preference.
 
One mans meat and all that, if they are they wheels you want then go for it. I'd have a sniff about ebay, pistonheads and maybe even stick a wanted in your sig on here. 17" wheels of any style generally aren't that popular so you may find someone has a set stashed in their garage that they didn't think anyone would be interested in.

Either way there are numerous ways of getting the wheels for far cheaper than what they cost new from Audi.
 
I picked up a set of the alloys on your original car in mint condition for £250 (inc tyres) off the bay. I rather like them too.
 
Dont buy them the new car wheels look better anyway.
 
If they are 17" are they actually S-line ?? mine were 18"

These is another thread running here with a guy selling a new set of BE wheels at under a grand. They would look trick on a black car
 
i apid £350 for oem 17" sport ones ( the nice 5 spoke one 08 shape onwards)
and could have gor some genuine s3 one with 2k on em for £650
that is mental would only pay that for some new rs3 style ones
 
I picked up genuine A3 S-Line alloys for my old car, with good rubber for £350 on ebay.
Wouldn't dream of spending £1300! Especially for the ones they're trying to flog you! Mental.
 
£1600 on a set of BBS or some stunning speed lines yes oh yes on a set of 17's hahaha f**k that , i sold my old sport wheels on ebay for £170 with good tyres , ebay is your friend

Any other suggestions for a set of new alloys. I looked at the Wolfrace website last night.

(ebay is a pain in the ar$e)
 
Wheels are so personal it's hard to make a choice for someone.

For people wanting OEM look they just tend to stick with Audi rims but sometimes increase the diameter and buy off members on forums where wheels have been changed.

People who want a premium aftermarket wheel often end up with BBS (CH / CK / RS) and you can buy those from most aftermarket wheel sellers, but prices vary so do the homework.

People who want something lighter tend to go for Team Dynamics (Pro Race 1.2), but these wheels aren't hugely aesthetically pleasing, they're just amazingly light if that's your end game.

Then there are people who go OEM+ and I don't have the credentials to elaborate (e.g. I'm no baller!), so I'll leave the explanation of that to someone who knows this scene best!

The beauty of it is, you can make your own statement as there are no hard fast rules other than buying something that won't rub or run like a pizza round your hub! Other brands to look into are Rotiform, MTM, OZ, Borbet, Azev, Speedline, Ronal, Stasis.... Choices choices!
 
I think thats silly money for those alloys. I got my OEM 19" tts split spokes for £680 all in including good Toyo tyres! all from an audi breakers in Brum! took ages to find them tho and lots of phone calls.... the thing is, if you look hard enough you will find a deal! just takes effort... i would never buy alloys direct from audi:puke:
 
Why not buy a 2nd hand set of OEM wheels and refurb them so they are like new again, saving yourself hundreds and hundreds if not thousands in the process :wub:
