Reading an advert for a 8P3 S3 and the dealer claims it has a heated steering wheel. Is this a possible option on the S3 or are they talking cr@p?! Certainly I've never heard of this being an option.

Yep it is an option, but very uncommon in the UK. It could be retrofitted, try Norway/sweden, german eBay for the parts.

Well this is a UK car, and the only time I've ever seen it listed. Uncommon is not the word! :uhm:

I have seen it listed on at least one 8p3 S3 when I was trawling the used approved site about 6 months ago. I can't remember the car in question though. When you think about it, why not? I would expect it to work in tandem with the driver's heated seat.

Well we have had A3's since 2004 and never seen the option for a heated steering wheel in any brochure since then. Don't believe it has ever been an option on UK cars.

The Audi used car descriptions are rubbish. They are only as good as the numpty sales guys loading the info on the internet...

We're very much on the same wave length on this one. Can always use it as a bargaining chip should I end up buying the car.

I have searched etka & elsawin, no reference to heated wheel within wiring at all & this was a premium feature that only showed up on the more luxurious lines like A6 upwards.

maybe part of a cold weather package - like how there isnt a part number for the leather trimmed knee pads as they are part of the exclusive trim package?

Weather is not that bad, lol.

Be nice if there was the option :)
Wonder if the A6 wheel would fit....

blue peter time - remove leather, coil wire round the wheel & replace/re-stitch leather & jobs a good um LOL

Maybe they could hollow it out and connect it to the aircon, that way you could have heated or cooled.
:undwech:
Wouldn't mind a cooled stering wheel actually, mine gets frickin hot when it's parked in the sun.

My brothers car has the aircon plumbed into the headlights, so it just goes to show you can link it to anything I suppose.

Dan, can't for the life of me think why you would connect your aircon to the headlights - am I missing something obvious here ? What's it for and what type of car is it ?

It's on a DB7 Vantage. The aircon is linked to the headlights to stop them misting up apparently. It's done like this at the factory.
The thing is, you know what it's like if it's rainy and you use your aircon to demist the windows and then you turn it off and it mists up even worse. Well it's worse with headlights. He has the aircon on the whole time and just adjusts the temperature, otherwise they just mist up. He asked Astons how to turn the aircon off and they said 'oh you shouldn't ever turn it off'.
I said imagine what it's doing to your fuel economy, but he reminded me it's a 6 litre V12, so the aircon makes ****** all difference!
