A4 Avant 3.0 TDI quattro Black Edition anyone?

If you're going on holiday in it (rather than just driving to the airport) then I'd be seriously tempted to get in asap.

I got mine a week before I went on hols and it did add to it. Fortunately I was going the second week of September ;)

He's so obviously going to pick it up! Who wouldn't? Who couldn't resist the temptation? :kissmyrings:

Yes, yes I'm am going to pick it up as soon
as it's available! I'd even jump on a plan and collect
from factory if audi did that! As Stu says now that there are 2 registrations
a year, plate envy isn't what it use to be and I just want the car!
Thanks all for telling me what i needed to hear thought!

You can always stick a personalised plate on at a later date so that no-one can tell anyway.

That's still new in my books! I only ordered new cos I couldn't find what I wanted.
How you getting on with the car?
Did you kick your dealership into shape?...not trying to get you started!

Getting on with the car fine, dealer still crap but they've agreed to pick the car up 1st August for the corrections to the bodywork - they'd better get it right now as I'll be going over it with a fine toothcomb. It's taken me a lot of adjustment to find a seat position that doesn't give me back ache on long journeys, I need to load the jukebox and get the hang of the voice commands as well. Drives prett ywell though, going for overtakes I thought I'd never go for in a car (have a couple of motorbikes).

I was about to post a new thread asking a question but I might as well do it here....

Can anybody explain what the keyless option actually does and how it works in relation to the power tailgate? My previous car had a "boot open" button on the remote which unlocked and opened the boot when pressed. The Audi one just flashes the indicators when it's locked - seems a bit pointless to me, if the cars unlocked I can just use the usual tailgate button or the drivers door switch. Also - should the car auto lock when everything is closed and the key goes out of range? And - when the tailgate is open and the ignition left on - the ignition times out and then the tailgate is effectively stuck up - button on the tailgate doesn't work, button on the remote doesn't work - only way to close it without cycling the ignition is via the door switch. All seems a bit like hard work to me.

Oh yeah - and in a recent thunderstorm the sunroof and all the windows opened and the car unlocked itself!! Luckily I spotted it before it got wet, will be keeping an eye on that.

If I was you keef I'd be counting the minutes til you get it. Never had a brand spanker, although this one is pretty close.

I have the Keyless Entry but not auto tailgate so can't comment on that part of it.

The way I use it is that I keep the key in my pocket and as I approach the door I want to open I put my hand behind the handle as if to open in put pause of a split second during which time I hear the door unlock and then I grip the handle and open the door. Likewise with the boot I simply operate the button with the key in my pocket.

The car doesn't lock when you walk away so far as I know, I normally just swipe across one of the door handle little squares.

I can't offer any help with the advance key - Stu's ya man for that!
For £500 advance key was never an option for me!
It's just for lazy people.....unlike the memory elec seats and power tailgate that I'v spec'd!!

I have the power tail but not the advanced key.... but I don't get the ignition time out thing?

I've had mine on for ages when doing code changes with VCDS. I'm wonder if it's coz the car is new that it actually went into battery protection mode i.e. it ensures it keeps enough charge to start the car. That would then explain why other things also shut down. My tailgate opens via the remote or boot or door button and closes via the boot button regardless of ignition status etc.

p.s. It's even more likely to be the battery level as when we all get our cars I'm sure I'm not the only one to sit in it and have a good play with everything. In fact when my TT was delivered I flattened the battery without ever driving it !! <blush> Fortuanately I left it for an hour or two and it recovered enough for me to start it ... so then I had to go for a long drive ;)

I thought the tailgate was just a lazy gimic etc but I added it to the spec when I changed from my car with missing quattro. It's actually dead useful. Even at the most trivial level, when it's all mucky on the rear of the car, you don't get dirty hands. Just remember to check the opening height and if necessary program the max opening in case it hits the garage door/roof etc ;)

The opening height is adjustable? Cool, might stop me banging my head on it when it's up!. My ignition turns off after only a few minutes, thought I'd read in the manual it was preset to do this - deffo can't shut or open tailgate via tailgate buttons once it's off.

Yep - but the adjustment is more to give you a lower lid and not a higher one ;)

My manual mentions power saving but I can't see anything that says ignition goes off in 10 mins etc.

Just had the call! Cars at Grimsby and I’m picking-up from dealers a week tomorrow!
17 weeks to the day from ordering.
I’m so £ookin chuffed right now! :yahoo: :arco:

Happy is a tad understated!
I know the clock is ticking but soo tempted to jump in the exhaust GB.
Got a quote from JKM, quite reasonable and Kate said they would apply the same discount to the S4 oval trims I want!
Just not sure if I can fork out all this money in one hit!.....argh more decisions!
Stu – is you rear trim strip the chrome or platinum version??....tick, tick….

You'll be gutted if you don't

It's the Chrome one mate. I'm not made of money!!

As the dealership is right by the train station
I couldn't resist going for a sneak preview of my mota
last night! Got a few pix but trying to sort out my photo bucket
Acc as I haven't used it since 2005!
Roll on Saturday!

Dealer has ordered the 3.0 badge
But I'm now thinking I quite like the just TDi quattro look now!
With just the exhausts been the give away sign!
So I've asked him to supply and not fit as yet!

Here you go.

Looks really good in quartz with the BE. Good choice. :o.k:

Just a quick update as I'm going back out to play!
Picked up yesterday and thrilled to bits with it!
Although a really annoying squeak has developed from the tailgate!
Just wanted to say a big thanks to all that have contributed to my post
And kept me sain whilst waiting for my car!
All the input is very much appreciated!
Cheers

I think the rubber bungs that it closes on can be unscrewed to make them stick out more and hence take up the slack. I'm pretty sure I did that on my previous Avant.

Car has developed a really annoying noise / rattle that seems to be coming from the passenger seat.
I’m assuming that because it only happens when I’m in the car on my own and stops when I hold the top of the seat.
Think it might be a bit loose or caused by vibration when driving along.
Can’t really be ***** to get it booked in at the dealers just yet – so has anyone had a similar issue or know of a simply fix?

Cheers
Keef
