I've had a Nokia Prism since it first came out. So quite a few years old now! It's the only phone I've ever owned (apart from a 3210) that has never gone wrong! But I fancy getting a new phone. I'm on PAYG. Contract don't work out for me because I spend the best part of 8-9 months abroad.

I don't really fancy the iphone. Looking at maybe an HTC. Possibly the Desire S. Anyone out there on an HTC? What are they like? My work phone is a Blackberry Curve. Not ruling out another BB because that seems to work well.

Any ideas?

What do you want to use the phone for?

I'm on my 3rd HTC and love it. Really like the HTC phones, can't fault them.
But don't forget Sony Ericsson and samsung phones.
both very good as well.

If your on PAYG, what sort of budget are you looking for to spend on a phone?

My misses and myself have had a few HTC handsets desire/ hero touch 2 etc
i find the touch screens unresponsive after a while .very frustrating to use
and they always freeze up. etc etc ..Just my pennies worth :)

Whats your house keeping like on the phone and what version of android was they running?

I have a Desire HD, of which i changed to from a BB Storm. It has been really good, much prefer it over the BB, its quicker and the touch screen is better by far.

Well I'll be using it to ring/text people, browsing, facebook, and any other app that I like. Not had a phone to play around with apps so don't know whats out there! I've had a look at a couple of Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones, but don't really like the look of them. Don't want anything too big or chunky. Or anything that flips out. Simple looking is what I'm after. Budget wise, not really fussed. If I think it's worth paying, I'll pay it. I'll prob keep it for another 10 years anyway! lol

Thats just the thing I'm after! Now I know that people have opinions etc, so I'll take it with a pinch of salt. But the screen lacking in response after a bit of time is the sort of things that'll affect me. Like Axios said, if it's an older version, that could be sorted on the new ones?

I was looking at the Storm too so thats interesting.

I have given the Storm to my wife, but if we are at home together and she wants to pop on the internet without opening the laptop, she will rob my Desire and NOT use the Storm.

Screen is bigger and clearer, is quicker at loading up pages, and even more so when connected to Wifi at home, as the original Storm doesnt have Wifi, but not sure if the later models do?

Desire HD is amazing phone.
I love mine.
4.3" screen, so its bit of a beast.

If budget is not much of a problem and your willing to keep it some time, check out HTC sensation.
If its to much or to big check out the Desire.

Is there any dual core smart phones out there with a smaller screen that 4.3"?

Yea, thats a bit too big. I recon either the Incredible S or the Desire S looks like a nice size.

Why not iPhone Coz? I was anti iPhone until I got one! Yes, they are expensive to buy, but you get what you pay for! The touchsceen techonology on one is just head and shoulders above anything else, HTC Desire HD included.

The DHD is a big and can be a bit of a pain to get it in to some pockets with a case on it.
Its not a top pocket phone at all. lol

The Desire S is a good phone. a slight improvment from the normal Desire which was and still is a very good phone.

It's not that I'm anti iPhone. It's just that every ****** has one nowadays! I'd buy one if they were the only one on the market that does what it does. Maybe the others are playing catch up a bit because they came out with the technology first but I'm a picky ******. I wan't people to see the phone and say 'What's that?', rather than 'Oh you have one as well?'.

Stupid I know, but it's what makes me special

Hoovered the house all the time mate :p

Always update phones so no excuses really .So to conclude
IMHO HTC = Fail

More to than updates mate.
Removing old apps that you don't use, closing down apps running in the back ground. little things like that can make a huge different.

iPhone is a good phone and apple has done very well with it and it has some nice touches.
There is still better phones out there at a cheaper price.
But that all comes down to personal preferences really.
Customize or stick with what the manufacture tells you.

Coz, check out the ZTE Sanfransico. Its on Orange PAYG for about £100.

What about the Sony Experia Play?

Never even heard of that one! Impressive price!

My mate's got that. Not a fan of flip/slide phones.

I'm open to other phones too... I was looking at an Eclipse Novus because I've got 2 phones and the Eclipse is a dual sim phone. Ordered one off ebay and it got lost in the post. Got my money back, but I donno. Looking else where before I make a decision again.

I have an iphone 4 now .I always kept away from apple because of cost and what people said about them (negative )I love this phone and keep it looked after because it looks after me .Ok battery lifes sheet .but thats my only gripe .People will not think oh its just an Iphone lol .They will Want it haha .bite the bullet .Iphone = win

I've had a Desire for over a hear now and it's still fantastic. Desire S is the one to go for if size is an issue. I'm waiting for the Sensation though

Is a nice phone. I tried blaging one from HTC when they phoned me last week but they was not having any it. :(

Sorry iPhone guys, but I'm going HTC.

I've decided to go for the Incredible S. It was a toss up between that and the Desire S. The Desire HD is friggin massive! Too big for me, and the Sensation was a little big too. TBH what sold the Incredible S for me was the way the touch buttons flip when you turn the phone 90 degrees lol. Otherwise I would have gone for the Desire S! The heart wants what it wants right?!

Thanks guys for the help/advice and for your 2p worth. Yes, even the iPhone lot :beerchug:

The DHD is only .3 of a inch bigger than the Incredible, I guess every . of a inch counts. :)

That's a nice feature on the buttons, why the hell does the DHD not have that? lol

Hope you enjoy it.
If you need any apps just ask. :)

It's not the size of the boat that matters, it's how hard you row! No, wait. That's my excuse for something else.... :whistle2:

But seriously, the HD is chunkier than the Incredible which is already quite a bit bigger than my BB. That's what I've compared it to. I don't watch movies on the phone anyway so it won't really affect me much. Looking forward to getting it now. A new toy to play with lol.

I'll keep you in mind for the apps! Cheers :icon_thumright:
