S3 PE1820 big turbo build

They called at about 9.50 saying that it's all done and sorted, and doing some apologising again...

I will have a brief look at it tonight, but won't be able to do much until the morning as I am out tonight.

I shall be spending a bit of time turning it over to make sure all is well before bolting it down....

You are welcome to bring it over the unit Saturday mate if you want a second opinion...

When I had my head sent off they didnt do the timing right, when I got it back both notches didnt even align.

I didnt take it back to them. They have been in business longer than ive been alive so dont really expect mistakes like that and its such an important part to get wrong. I wonder if they would have paid for my engine if I hadnt checked the timing and everything went bang.

Hope things run smoother for you know though buddy.

To be honest, if I had the time I would have liked to have done it. However I have a hectic workload at work currently, a lot going on at home and simply don't have the time.

I can just about find the time over the weekend to get the engine back together I think, hopefully.

Don't think that I wasn't disappointed about it, or mad, because I was both believe me. However my nature is to not lets things get me down, and retain a positive outlook!

Disappointment and anger are two things I normally find are counter productive and not conducive to getting the problem resolved.

Thats the best way how to handle things I would say. As soon as you start to let things **** you off and get on top of you, thats when you want to give up. Sounds like you have done the best thing for your situation anyway welly. If I was more local I would come and give you a hand.

At least you have everything you need to put it all back together once you get the head back.

OK, the head is back....

I haven't seen it, however the photos give a much more positive outlook...

I went out for a test run, and my new master cylinder caused a few problems.... Like the front brales physically jamming on to the point the car wouldn't move.... Fantastic!

Anyway, all good now.

I'll keep you posted on developments.

OK then, today is the day for MOT.

Oh goodie.

Anyway, new MC fitted and has been bled, however the pedal is still not the best which is disappointing to say the least... BUT, the brakes do work so it shouldn't be an issue.

To be fair, it's not actually as bad a job as anticipated, fiddly but not that difficult.

I can't believe that when I had the S3 last year, it got MOT'd as normal. She still had a K04 with a stock downpipe and cats. That is crazy frankly, I can't can't believe how many changes have been done in 1 year....

Looking forward to getting out on the open road.... :eyebrows:

Well maybe i'll take you out in my rapid K04 S3 ;)

I like rapid, rapid is good....

I'm planning on trading in for the manliest TT I can find.

To be fair, I do like them ,but it's not just for me. My missus pretty much orgasms every time she sees one. She's been pretty good about me spending next to ALL of both my time and money on Bumble, so I thought I'd have a hunt round for a TT 180 with a knackered engine and sort it.

Can pick up busted TTs for about £2K

Good idea mate. Me and Tam were thinking about a track project between us. I was looking at Skoda Octavia VRS for £2k and stripping the fecker.

I think it's all about a happy medium ;)

And I agree with you completely. I've been there now, I know how much hassle it has been for me, and I don't think I'll be doing it again.

My brother always told me that if I wanted a faster car, I should buy a faster car. Those words ring in my ears from time to time lol.
