Well guys, a sad day coming up for my relationship with the S3.

After searching for months to find a steering "issue" it has turned out to be something that is just all in my mind. The guys at Awesome GTI have been just that - awesome. Big thanks to Dean, Al and all the others that have helped. They have had me in a few times, the most recent being this morning, with at least three of them driving and sitting with me in the car as well as sitting in a TT owned by one of the lads, with exactly the same feel and nothing wrong with that car. The car has also been to them for (get this) all new springs, all new dampers, top mounts, tie/track rod ends, drop links and full front wishbones, complete with bushes and ball joints (all I might add being genuine Audi parts and fitted for quite frankly a steal in the grand scheme of things).

The "issue" has been there since I have owned the car and three Audi garages, two MOT stations (including by VOSA agents), Awesome GTI and my father cannot feel the "fault" and there is nothing left to change (steering rack was considered, but Awesome just cannot see or feel ANY movement).

But I just don't love the car like I loved my Clio. Not sure what it is, because I love the looks, the colour, the build quality and the go. But with an iminent move to London to boot, I feel it is right for the S3 to leave my hands soon.

This isn't a for sale thread (JoJo, I can see you lurking :angrymod: ;)) - more of a thanks for being a great forum and an awesome gang to chat to! I'll post some final pics soon as she gets prepped detailing wise for sale :sm4: But for now, here she stands;

dont do it!
if it felt dull to you maybe you should have powerflexed some components, maybe got some lighter 18 inch wheels, to liven it up and give it some poise

Boooo!

Come and drive mine, Westle seems to like it lol.

If you don't love it though were not gonna change your mind :crying:

If you sell it, I am going to hunt you down.... :ninja:.

lol

I know what you mean mate to be fair - it is so annoying having something that nothing seems to fix.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

...should have uprated them, then you may have thought differently

either way, good luck with your move and hope you find a good home for it if you do sell

Cheers all, Lol at the Facebook threats!

I'm thinking a Westfield or something similarly "weekend car"-esque.

The buses and tubes will be my day to day transport. Would only require a car for shits and giggles and to retain my NCB for insurance.

I'm sure there will be reconsiderations over the coming weeks, but I really think spending more time and money on it is just a bad idea!

Hear what you're saying, but have said I wanted to stick to standard cars from now on :)

JD why don't you get the Revo trial (if they still do it) before you make your mind up? It will totally change the way she feels! And you may just fall back in love with her!

shhhhhh dont mention mapping!! Dani's here, he has been known to loosen his bowels at the very mention of the word ;)

every car has a shelf life, i have the S3 as a hobby im going to look at a cupra k1 saturday morning if its in the condition adverised my S3 will be going see yah. so much power to be had out of the 2.0 k04 cupra, full exhaust, stage2 map, cais, uprated fuel pump 360bhp. the S3 has been great i will never knock it.

you could go on like that all day long though..... this car makes this that car makes that..... all have their benefits and traits..... all depends what you want and what your prepared to sacrifice if anything

exactly, i like the look of the cupra, its just that for little money it makes big power.

Nice, there's no point holding onto it if your not happy with it. To be fair iv had 5 cars in my driving life, and only one has been 'special'

Its more than just build quality and speed that makes them so special. To me, my s3 isn't special either, yet some people love them. I think spending a load of cash on them ruins it, and there is no coming back from that.

Well my suggestion of a weekend car would be a lotus elise or even exige. Or maybe the uglier vx220. I would consider them a perfect weekender. Not so keen on the westys, they are a bit more hassle putting roof up and security, but the tuning potential is limitless if you get wideboy version.

Haha tim, you never change you tw@t haha.

Shouldnt you be on the poser's section? lol. Ooh no i forgot, you still have a proper car dont you, the missus a3 :).

911 4S for me...but thats cos im a sucker for traction ;)

had it have not been for the dogs id have had one :(

i had a 996 4s, 4 years ago loved washing and polishing it i know that sounds daft but driving it was very dissapointing and the brakes shiittt. ive lost lots of money on so called weekend cars like most people. hence i will never pay big money again for a second car, the cupra on an 07 which i am looking at is a lot of car because of the s3, ed30, engine is little money for a lot of car when stage 2, to think my s3 stage 2 is 264bhp and the cupra stage2 360bhp a fantastic engine.

Look its on its way in summer, lol. I think if i mapped the car in its current run down state (ive just been useing and abusing it worse than a 10 dollar hooker) it'd just die on me lol.

i know mate..... just cant chuck 2 dogs in the back..... there were actually two turbos in range with high mileage which are one of my realistic dream cars......

Maybe when i hit the midlife....

Lol at Shane,

Nothing wasteful about having a Banger on weekdays and a brute on the weekend.

Am thinking 1 litre Aygo + RS Audi :)

yeah ive heard the 996's are very unreliable too?

Shameful thing about the cupra is the god awful interior which is not one you'd live withas a daily or wkender ;)

Ok, somebody save this, copy and paste across the land cos we're gona hold you to it haha ;) and i'll be checking when you finally make it to Audi's in the park ;)

Haha.

When is that anyway? I still need to fix the wing and bumper from that bird ramming me :(.

Anyone got a s3 wing i can have haha.
