S3RYE's Build Thread

your car looks so much better with the spacers on Rye, looking forward to seeing it progress :applaus:

Bit of an Update.....

basically went up to Amd yesterday to have my new map file loaded up... So the guys got to work got it done, went on a test drive only to come back and say the cars got worse... Now the car was suffering severe misfires all the way through rev range... I must say at this point i got a bit worried.. Anyway the boys @ AMD said its somethiung to do with the engine then Shaun mentioned the plugs... Ive done 27,000 miles in my car so far on the standard plugs & apparently should be chaging them every 20,000 due to mods.. So told them to remove one plug and see what it looks like.. Now i dont know a great deal about things like this but they were f**cked!!! the tips were alomost melted away, they were rusty somehow, causing the coilpacks to go rusty too.. Shaun wondered and asked whether id had the engine steamed or jet washed which i had once byt my detailer last year! so anyway we put new plugs & coilpacks in and as you can imagine im quite ****** at this point considering i was meant to be going up there for a free map update... Once the plugs & coilpacks were in Shaun took the car out himself.. Once back he basically said to me... the 6000rpm+ misfire is gone, the big splutter has gone and the car feels very fast! i was kind of happy but still thought it cant be that good. I paid up & set on my journey and i cannot tell you what a difference this has made!!! my car feels so tight again.. its a wonder how long my car had been running this bad due to these f**cked plugs! its almost as if where i drive it every day ive not noticed the drop in perforance.. what makes me laugh is Audi had the car to look at the misfire & wanted me to remove all the parts off the car before so.. when all it was, was plugs!

So.... no misfires, clutch seems to be sweet now & all i can say is roll on Stage 2+ :eyebrows::jump:

i know, have just been out in it properly.. i dont really know what to say its almost as if the new mapping has made it faster... I even checked to see if they accidently put a full TBE on @ the weekend rather than just Catback... much to my disgust it was the latter :lmfao:

Haha @ the turbo back and PS movie I ended up watching come dine with me I think it's called :ninja: I think they got the magic touch up there mate, my car was feeling a lil less responsive than normal, but was booked in for an RR run which I'd cancelled twice due to work commitments. They didn't change a thing but for some reason it feels great and far more responsive now! I asked them what it could be, they were also a lil lost but hey result for me so I don't really care :)

AMD = WIN (thus far!) I'll check to see if they've turbo backed mine by mistake!:lmfao:

Ok. Just been out & car was fine. Parked up, wnt into a friends for five mins, came out turned the car on and the emissions light is on constantly!? Should I be worried? Or could it be something to do with new plugs? Coilpacks? Or cat back? I didnt drive hard but the car seems fine? Idling fine ect...

Any help or advice Appreciated!

Ok just had the car diagnosed... i have Error Code PO172 - System too rich Bank 1

Amd cant see the car untill monday but say it should be ok but not to drive it too much... ive tried searching to see if anyone has had the same issue but cant find anything... anyone got any ideas? :(

No mate! sorry to hear that it's taken a dive again... Maybe see another trusted tuner? 4 days in semi-limp mode doesn't sound so good to me. Either that or don't drive at all??

use your sps switch and turn the fuelling down on your remap, if its a single bank sounds like it might be an injector?

right i have a revo switch but im not sure if i can control the settings with it??

just got the revo switch out the box for the first time ever... do i need a lead to connect it to the PC? as i dont have one + would i need to DL some software to run it with??

well this is it, im worried so im calling around and getting the most mixed up answers from different people.. ones just told me definately Lamda or MAF sensor... someone else told me possibly valves?? and ive also had one say fuel rail? at the moment im having visions of it being te valves and Amd sayin its a head off job at which point id like Audi to sort it out but then i have all the mods to think about befroe them money grabbing wan*ers will even look at my car!! :crying:

Phil, i just went out in it for about 15-20 mins... when i had they guy plug it in he asked if i wanted the light turned off? he said if there is a problem it will come back on.. now it hasnt come back on in that time & the car feels fine so im really confused with this whole thing..

intermittant codes can be funny that way its probably just a lambda sensor

I would suggest with the mods you have & will have, to get vcds which will help alleviate worries or point you in the right direction of issues as snapon units arent a patch on vcds at the end of the day, if you have issues then shaun can ask you to do certain logs to try & help finds the issues should they arise which may save you trips to them furturewise.

I think you're right nige. Have been thinking about this over the weekend. I've not been tempted cause I was worried it would be hard to use but apparently it isn't?

exactly it pays for itself pretty fast after all it costs a lot to fill up the s3 ;)

Black rings added today, had a nightmare & am ordering another one as I broke 4 clips on this one but it's on and I think it looks good!!

Not at all mate, 1st use & you easily find your way about, PM if interested.

Thats exactly my point, it costs what £70-£80 to fill them up these days, how much has it cost for say just 1 of the mods on our cars that does just 1 job, whereas vcds does so much more to assist you when you need to check, fault find, recode, fit new modules etc etc, for me its a no brainer & I paid £260 for mine originally, so its not like I got mine cheap.

Er and where did you get your inspiration?..You better thank me now biatch!

ill be sticking with the chrome rings considering changing colour but not to black though

Looks good, do them wheels black & door mirrors & have it full stealth

Thanks! Tbh I like the contrast between wheels/mirrors & black bodywork :yum:

As for the car itself. Took it to Amd this morning. Car is still there :( the emission light is off now but the car is misfiring again now! :banghead:

hi guys,

Bit of an update... Took my car to Amd yesterday and ended up leaving the car there as they couldn't find the problem.. I had to get back to work. There was a filter changed (not too sure which one) & the emissions light went off.

Now the car had developed its misfire again. So again the guys down @ Amd(who have been excellent) started to look into this.. cutting it short they called me just now & the problem is gone with a new map on the car. Apparently a less aggressive map has been uploaded and the misfire is gone?? i'm just hoping the car doesn't feel slow

Hello mate, thanks for the updates! Please keep us posted on how it goes and I hope it gets sorted

S3RYE - definitely you that I saw about an hour ago coming off Greenman roundabout heading down the High Rd. I was a few cars ahead of you (dirty silver A3) and pulled into McD's.
Your car was looking spot on mate. Made mine look even shitter than usual!

The car seems to be back to normal! Amd mapped out the misfire & the car still feels great as far as i can feel.. maybe a bit smoother but to be honest i havent been able to give it full beans due to there being so many cars on the road so ill see tonight... :banghead:

I just have to say again AMD ARE BOSS!! they provided me with an excellent service.. Im booking in for my Milltek DP & Stage 2+ for end of march with them 100% and will continue to use them for the rest of my tuning/servicing...

glad to hear the car is sorted!
so what did they do with the map to get rid of the misfire?

i dont quite know to be honest Paulo... they mentioned they uploaded a less agressive map? at first i was worried it would feel alot slower but it feels pretty good... Maybe they just turned the Revo settings down? All i know is Ben & Shaun mentioned they are still in contact with Revo to try and get to the bottom of it..

It will be interesting to see what happes next month when the Stage 2+ software goes on... fingers crossed it all goes well :shrug:

hm, id be worried tho going stage 2+ would bring back the misfire if the only cause they found was a too aggressive map, because surely the 2+ map is going to be a lot more aggressive then the stage 1 map?

exactly my thoughts...

hmm, hopefully the dp will go a long way to sorting the problems, got my fingers crossed for you mate

cheers Dude, i need it with my luck!

im going to try my hardest over the next few weeks to get Audi to try and define whther my car may have been one fo those affected by the TSB Audi gave out due to some cars being fitted with the wrong Valve springs... im ****** hoping not but The pr1ck dealer near to me wont even look on the system for me untill i remove my mods... whereas i read on here most people have no issues with the like... Just my luck!

have you had your clutch fitted now? how does it feel?
