i have been looking through the site and have been unable to find any decent info on this.
Am i looking in the wrong place?

i want to replace the rear bushes on my 2001 fwd 1.8t avant.

i was hoping to find a guide detailling if it is indeed possible as a home job with a bush puller ?

i did mine with marks help with some bits of threaded rod and random bits of tube.

Got the new bushes from AllGermanParts.

i'll have a look on there.
was it simply a case of dropping the beam and pulling them out ?
do you have to unclip any brake lines etc ?
did you need to use heat?

No heat.

I supported the beam on a jack, unbolted the bushes and lowered it down carefully. I didnt remove any brakelines, but you can only JUST get enough space to lower it before the flexis bind up, so care is required.

To get them out you need a tube thats a close fit to the bush casing on one side and one thats bigger than the bush outer on the other, then use an assortment of bits of plate, washers, nuts and some threaded rod to draw the bush out.

sounds like a reasonably sensible procedure.
as they are sleeved i expect they come out reasonably easily ?

Use a blowtorch and burn the rubber out.

Then hacksaw the sleeve and pop it out.

Keep the new one in the freezer the night before and it slides right in.

Bosh.

Blowtorches and flames under the car near the brake pipes and plastic fuel tank....

Your a braver man than I.
