I know theres lots of rumour on the internet about the next generation A3 but i was wondering if anyone had any inside information about an expected production date? Ive scoured the internet and found some nice looking artists impressions of what it might look like. I was considering trading my year old A3 in next year but if the next one is out in 2012 i would like to hold on for the new model as my 3 year deal is up in sept 2012.

Do i hold on for 2012? Will it be here by then do you think? If its going to be put back ill probably order another 8P A3 next year

Any info appreciated

Not sure, but the RS3 due out in 2012 looks the same as the current cars really but reading this;

- A3 Shortback Lower, sleeker and racier, this is the new three-door A3, due in 2011
• A3 Sportback Segment leader carefully tuned for more room and vroom, due in 2012
• A3 Slantback A crossbreed between saloon and 4dr coupé, aimed at BMW 1-series and Merc BLC, 2013
• A3 Cabriolet Based on the notchback rather than the hatch, more class and more space, 2012
• A3 Eco High-efficiency Sportback in spacial low-drag livery with 1.4 TDI and e-pack, 2011

Sounds like there will be different shapes, perhaps based on similar/same styling as the current range?

I'm hanging on for the new A3/S3 Sportback too. From what I can gather, the Sportback will be a bit longer than the 8P (really hoping it will be more of a mini estate, otherwise it's an A4 for me!)

no insider gossip, but i'd probably put my right testicle on it being released in 2012

i said "probably". the reason being i wouldn't want someone else's right testicle when i'm right :p

My wife is a keen gardener and I have just arranged for us both to visit BUGA 2011, which is a huge garden festival being held in Koblenz in Germany from April to October 2011. Now Koblenz is only around 80 miles from Frankfurt where the German Motor Show is being held in 2011 so I have arranged to go to Koblenz at the same time as the motor show in September. Hopefully Audi will be releasing the Next Generation A3 at that motor show.

As I have been having a lot of trouble walking recently because of problems with my right leg my doctor has arranged for me to be issued with a Disabled Parking blue badge. With this badge the nice people who organise the motor show will allow me to park my car actually inside the Frankfurt Exhibition complex and I will not even have to pay to get in.

It'll definitely be available in early to mid 2012. Bear in mind it was originally sheduled for 2010, which then slipped to 2011 and it has now slipped again. There's no way on earth they'll let it slip any further as the A3 platform will be 10 years old by 2013.

c_w: The RS3 is due next year, not 2012. They're already taking orders.

My advice to anyone wanting an Audi for 2012 - Order it now!
Audi couldn't organise a kids Xmas party...unless it was for the following August.

Bitter...me? ;)

Cheers Vertigo thats exactly what i was thinking the RS3 will onky keep the model going for a limited period surely just because its an RS3 doesnt mean everyone wants/can afford it so to keep the current platform for 10years even by Audi standards is pushing the life span! My plan was to swap my 07 reg after 3years for the next generation in 2010 then when that was looking unlikely i signed up again so im really hoping next time ill be in time?

Thanks Dave for the heads up if you get to know anymore can you post? Also as the new A6 is out ive seen lots of personal audi HQ email addresses of various marketing bods is it worth firing one off to them and see the response or am i wasting my time in your opinion?

The RS3 is due to be released in April 2011 not 2012

I'm reckoning that with the Q3 due to be launched in late 2011 that the new A3 will be some point in 2012.
