Black Edition

Days... Diamond... I would reckon on 2 weeks max but are you going to wait until 1 Jan to Register?

Everyone is telling me to and don't know if they will let me keep the hire car till then. Will make up my mind when it arrives, but I know once I see it I'll want it lol.....

Hopefully it will get here sometime next week.

If you are buying it try to hang on for a 2011 Reg on 1 January... it will be worth c£300 on trade in and you still beet the '*******' Governments VAT rise.

Can't decide if I should get one now or not. Been quoted June 2011. That takes the ****. I don't mind waiting 3 or maybe 4 months at a push but 7 months is ridiculous. It's a nice car but it's not some exotic piece of machinery that you buy once in a lifetime.

Even though mine is a company car and i'm in pool car, had i known how long it would take i would never had ordered one. If it had been my own money i would never had signed on the dotted line knowing the 7 month wait.

Trouble is some people say Audi should stop taking orders but why would you? Guaranteed production and income for 7 months and people keep ordering them. I am not trying to defend Audi and it is different for owners who have had build dates put back, but it must be frustrating for them that people are told 5-6 months on the order and then complain that it takes this long!!

Yeah I haven't actually placed the order as I don't think I want to wait that long, it's a very long time especially considering that would take it much much closer to the next generation A3 and I don't think I'm comfortable with a newer model coming out within a few months of me getting the old one. But then it also leaves me with the dilemma of what else do I buy?! Nothing else ticks all the boxes (that I can afford).

I don't know what to do now.

Have you tried several dealers to see if you can amend a pre-ordered one to your spec.

I wouldn't worry too much about the next generation A3 .. Our 8P BE is due in March. It is doubtful if there will be any significant new A3's around until Spring 2012, discounts are unlikely at first and I would put money on the Spec you want not being available for 6-12 months after that. We decided bite the bullet and go with 8P the new one doesn't look radically different and there are dicounts to be had and deals to be done still.

Can't see that working. The reason the VAT increases on January 4th is because the first three days of the year are holidays when the banks won't be open to process payments. Even if you paid the dealer on January 1st, I suspect they'd still have to charge you 20% VAT.

It will work if you sort it out with your dealer in advance. Some dealers are apparently desperate to move sales from 2010 to 2011 and are even covering the VAT increase,,, It is worth pushing!!

Well yeah if the dealer is desperate enough to pay the extra VAT themselves then that's another thing altogether - just don't think you'll be able to pay on Jan 1st at 17.5% VAT.

If you can agree to give them a Cheque or Bankers Draft or organise the AudiFinance or whatever before the VAT goes up on the 4 January the 'deal is done' on that day. May be worth checking but that's my understanding of things.

CHECK THIS LINK OUT.......WTF!!!!

Hmm imagine with a black roof and black wheels! think that will look cool like the fabia RS.

I actually think it looks really nice. I'm jus not brave enough to have a colour like that

Update,

Just been down the dealers again. Car arrived in the country at the Port Grimsby yesterday (06/12/10) and Transport ordered to the dealers on 06/12/06 at 17:33. So will be at the dealers any day now.:jump:
Anybody who know there car as been built but not arrived at the dealers yet, ask the dealer to print or send you a copy of Vehicle Status sheet. It tells you eveything you want to know about your car.

Dealer as also extended the day of my hire car (A4) should i wish to hold on and have the car on 3/01/11. But i'm worried someone will use the car if i leave it there so long. Because once when i went in a VW dealer they let me test drive a car that someone as order. Worried that will be the case with mine. Any advice would be great.

Evening,

not posted for a while, and been thoroughly enjoying my 59 - reg 5 door BE in monza silver 140 bhp with cruise, silver stiching, ipod connector & bluetooth (see page 10 of this thread no 476).

Now done just over 29,000 miles trouble free and have had her fully looked after by my local Audi dealer....BUT just out of interest i asked about trading her in for a new one (same spec but this time in red) and x3 dealers have offered me £16,000 for it!!!!!!!

Are they slightly taking the mickey....I've checked out all the websites I could think of and found nothing less than 20k.

I am now thinking of having a go and selling it myself what should I be asking and where would you suggest I try and sell it? I am so disillusioned with the local dealers as I think there trade in price is beyond a joke!

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Yoshi

That does seem a bit of a joke. They will make a mint on it if u do sell it to them!! Id personally have a go yourself especially if your not desperate to move on to another car straight away.

Also ive got a 140bhp and think im going to go for a 170 next just for a change and ive only heard good things about it. Do you think that just changing the colour will feel like a different car is it worth it???

Also from looking at your avatar how did you get the S line badge on the grill????

Glass's Guide
Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£17600
Average condition:
£15700
Below average condition:
£14100

From Vauxhall Website
This car would probably be about £22.5K new so would be quite hard to get £20K, but £16K is on the low side.

Hi,

The only reason to part ex it is that I cover about 27,500miles per year and need a reliable car. I just thought I'd try and beat the VAT increase and kind of fancied a red BE as they are still a rare sight. Might have a go and see what I can get for it.

as for the s-line badge here are the details I posted back in september 2009:

I ordered the badge from the dealer the part no's are:

Gen part no#s

Badge 4F0853736A2ZZ
Clips 8L0807180

As part of the deal I got them to put the badge on for me as it's meant to be a tricky ****** to fix.

Someone did put the following instructions on here on how to fix:

Slide 1 clip in at a time into the back of the horizontal slat either side of the vertical slat. Try and get the spacing right first time as trying to move them once
on is a nightmare and is likely to scuff the slat. Suggest you put one clip in then measure against where the badge fits to get the other side right.

Push the badge hooks into the clips..one side at a time is easier...once it clicks your in ! Now do the other side and job done...!

You will need to push pretty hard to get the clips in

Hope that helps, I think it something Audi should fit as standard to the BE.

Cheers

Yoshi

I think £16k is marginally low but not a lot given the mileage. I reckon a fair deal would be 10% off list with a £16000 PX. Trouble is dealers cannot get enough of the cars.

mmmm, slightly better i suppose but ive still gotta ask........WHY?????

Why... because it was available. I got a decent discount... 11% off showroom price. It was brand new. Avoided waiting list.

And most of all it's unique! I know some hate and and others love it. Some like it but wouldn't be brave enough to have it themselves.

Plus I wanted IBIS white A3 but we already have an IBIS white Black Edition in the family so it seemed pointless having two cars like for like the same... except the exhuasts... I HATE THE ONE EXHUAST TIP :-(

I was a BMW driver, still a Merc driver and now i wanted something more my age (27) :)

Yoshi, for a rough idea we paid £18750 for a 09 Black Edition in Ibis white with 21,000 miles on the clock about 3 months ago. But it was in amazing condition, apart from 1 stone chip. We paid about £500 over book price for it but then again it had new tyres, just serviced, etc...

Ibis White seems to hold more value than metallic paint I found but sell your car privately, don't part-ex plus u have the best colour in my honest opinion.

Don't let it go for less than £17500 is my opinion.

Right, My car arrived in the country at Grimsby port on Monday morning and a transport was order late Monday to get it to the dealers, but now Friday and still not here yet.

How long does to usually take get them to the dealers? and Do dealer know what they day it will arrive? or do they just get a eta?

Mine left the factory on 12th of November and still no sign of it. It arrived in the UK on 3rd of Dec and still have no idea when it will arrive. It is sitting less than 60 miles away and seems it will take them at least two weeks to move it !!!
