Black Edition

I love all this, I have been going through the similar thoughts on my car. It's like as soon as you place the order you start to think "I wish I'd gone for that instead". It must be a natural reaction....

Personally if I had the choice (which I didn't) I would have chosen the 170, so I think you have made the right choice.

I wish I had chosen red instead of white, but it's too late now.

140 v 170 If its a company car then really the 140 is a no-brainer at 13% tax instead of 18%. Whilst the 170 has more bhp (and slightly more torque up from 320 to 350) without the quattro most of it is lost on wheel spin. In everyday driving the amount of time the "extra" power is actually used is quite small. Go for the 140 and save your money (or spend it on extras)

:icon_thumright: That's what I like to hear! Shame it's too late. When did you order? Did you go for sportback or 3 door? Sorry if you've said it before, I haven't thought to read back and check.

put my new rings on today too.

Finally! Looks brilliant though, are the rings on the back smaller or is it just me?

I ordered my Sportback back in April, but the car was built last week and should be coming over shortly. I tossed a coin when ordering between red and white. Now I have seen so many white ones I wish I had gone for red.

I think it's just normal to want what someone else has got, I saw your red one the other day and thought "oh dear, that's what I should have gone for".

Hi All

Been lurking around for a few days and decided to join the forum. Already seen a load of hints and tips ready for my new arrival early next year (see sig). I'll be borrowing a 200PS 2.0 petrol turbo as of tomorrow, until my new car arrives. Have come from a BMW 320i so I'm all too aware of the German build quality. Decided on the Sportback Quattro as I now live in the countryside and a winter on those roads with a rear wheel drive car is not something I'd like to repeat.

White is getting very popular mate and I know what you mean as Red BE's do look good but a White BE is just as nice IMO. I kind of felt the same when I was trying to choose between Black & White, I keep seeing Black ones and thinking damn that looks good.

Also, not sure if it is because the car is White or maybe something else but more people seem to give way now or get out of the way on the motorway!

Hiya, welcome and good choice on the car.

Thanks, would have loved to go for the S3 but my company car scheme held me back. Good job, given the tax I would end up paying!

And fuel!!! Thats all my dad complains about is the fuel for his S3 especially when i've managed 75 mpg out of my 140 Black Edition. (See previous page)

Sorry the White with Black/White rings does absolutely nothing for me.

Not sure White is that Popular, seems there are more white 'orphan' cars on the Audi system than any other colour.

Totally fine, would be a boring world if we all liked the same wouldn't it.

Sounds like a nice spec! The TDI is well worth it.

Must admit Richy_C, you've tempted me with white rings now but I would want them the same colour front and rear and that just wouldn't work!

Did you spray them white and if so, was it Ibis?

My Audi has landed!! Arrived in stock at Milton Keynes today has had its registration assigned and just needs its PID and the delivery is a confirmed 21st October between 0900 - 1300 )

I had the 09 of this model and specification (In Signature) but not Start/Stop and not with the BOSE Sound Pack.

I have also gone from Phantom to Brilliant Black so I can offer a comparison on this to, though I must say I am one of the very few who was not that sold on the Phantom as it for the most part always looked 'dusty'

Will throw some photos up and do a short review also.

yay finally!!

No its just a plastikote rattle can, you cant get the same finish on plastic if you used the correct ibis colour.

other point is why cant you have white on the back? most people have black on the front and thats in a black area. white on the back would look good. if you notice i have a white nurburgring sticker on the back and its so minimal i love it.

Tell me about it £150 a month tax! Although my previous car was a Diesel at £100 a month so the extra £50 is not too bad. The only killer is the fuel as slade said. 27.5mpg average is not great, but I will have some fun for a few years and then once that is out of my system will probably be more sensible...he says until the RS3 comes along!!

Yeah fair comment!

No I didn't notice that and I'm sure a lot of people didn't?! Nice touch though!

Hi all

I have the 3dr 2.0 TDI BE ibis white arriving next week. Can anyone explain why the 5dr is a more popular choice to the 3dr, i though it might of been the black panoramic roof ?

I have a 2.0TDI 170 S-Tronic SB BE in Ibis White on order with the Open Sky, I have to have 5 doors for 16 month old plus it's easier with my golf clubs.

Well the biggest advantage the Sportback has is that it is a bigger car in terms of rear seat and luggage space, as it is about 80mm longer (not a lot I know but it all counts) than the Hatch. It's like any car really, most are purchased with practicality in mind and five doors are better than three if you need to carry passengers.

Personally, I prefer the Sportback styling as well.

I admire a man who considers making sure their boot is big enough for their golf clubs, don't quite fit in my 3dr at the moment without force!

Whats the due date on it??? I have the same on order only i have gone for Black roof rails aswell.... yet to see one exactly the same as what ive ordered, which is annoying as i want to know whats its gunna look like.....

Personally i chose the Sportback over the 3 door because i like the rear light on the SB, looked slightly more up to date to me (now others will hate that, just my opinion) and i prefer the shorter doors. terrible reasons really but i like the look of a baby estate lowered.

Like the S4, id take a S4 avant over the standard any day of the week for uber cool looks. lol

I have been given a build week 13 which is the first week in April.

I have just ordered an A3 3dr, 170bhp Black Ed. No build date yet, as only ordered yesterday. Options I have chosen are Interior Light Package, Comfort Package, Full Leather and Bluetooth. I have ordered the car in Phantom Black, as no dealers in Scotland had an A3 in Monza Silver. I have informed the leasing company that I may change the colour over the next couple of weeks. Does anyone have an A3 Black Ed in Monza Silver? If so, your thoughts and could you upload a couple of pictures in order that I can take a look?

Is this a new development? It notes the Monza Silver on the A3 Brochure.

You should see a little cross by the 3 standard colours (White, Black & Red) and also next to the Ice Silver, Phantom Black and the Metallic Red, this cross denotes that these are the only colours available in the Black Edition on the left hand side of the page in small text.

Any other colour would beca very very expensive option if they allow it.

Thanks, however, I have just checked the Audi online brochure and it does list Monza Silver and Misano Red as two colours only avaliable on the S-Line & I'm presuming BE. The other colours with the crosses denote that these are not avaliable for S3 cars.

I thought the BE was finished now to be honest. Wasn't it available for ordering up to and including 30th September 2010?

Think I should be ok. I have been dealing with numerous leasing companies and Audi main dealers over the past month and no-one has informed me that the Black Ed was coming to an end. I completed the order form yesterday, after carefully checking all the details and everything seems to be ok. The only thing I'm not sure about is the colour and would really like to see a BE in Monza Silver.

You're correct - there's a new A3 brochure for October - BE colours have changed, bluetooth is standard... but guess what (no surprises) prices have all gone up too.

So if I have ordered my car on Aug 5th without adding the Bluetooth and it is not scheduled for build until week 13 (April) 2011 then the Bluetooth should be added on a no additional cost.

Don't know if your post is a statement or a question, but I have called our lease company and asked if bluetooth will be on my car which was ordered on 11th August. I suspect not, but there's no harm in asking.

Sorry it was question but worded incorrectly. I still do not see why it would not be included as I have friends that have ordered new cars in the past and if the manufacturer has changed spec during the build schedule then they have had those options included.
