hi guys thinkin of getin a audi a3 but not sure whitch one, the point is the insurence for an a3 for me is £1200 and s3 £1k more is it worth it might aswell spend that on the car right? i just like to know whats the main differents in the a3 180 quattro and s3 51reg what should i do? also been thinkin bout mk tt roadster cause i wanted a soft top it could look pretty sick with the right mods but it a girls car still i might get 1 for the summer.
so wat you guys think a3/s3 or tt roadster

thanks andy

Get a tidy A3 with the money saved Andy

I think you should forget about the a3 quattro, it's a pointless car. All the weight of the s3 with none of the added class or power! If you really want 4wd then get an s3, otherwise, the fwd 1.8t is cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, faster, and MUCH more interesting to drive.....

:pfront wheel drive is gay lol. insurance is high on the s3's, im guessin your fairly young like me, but i just went all out and got one, if id have bought an a3 i would have always been thinkin, yeh but its not an s3!

I'm sure every A3 you have driven is as well setup as yours prawn, and can show an S3 where to go... talk some sense man!

Sorry Joe, my last sentance was aimed at the TQ, not the S3, doesn't read quite right though.

I'm saying, if you want the best, get an S3, I just don't see any point in the TQ at all. it's heavy like an S3, with none of the extra power or added luxury and class inside.

The fwd 1.8T is a better choice than the 1.8T Q if you can't afford the S3

haha, Mr. Montana probably couldn't give a **** these days, as he's now living in Texas driving a 550bhp AMG merc!

Still, as you've given me bait.....

I must add that within a given budget, of say £5-6k, you can either buy a standard S3, or an A3 with enough money left to modify it. In that situation, the A3 you could build would be far more capable than the S3, in both straight lines and corners.....

Just ask 'Sportstractor' with his chipped S3, how annoyed he was at the Ring, when I drove around the outside of him at Aremburg in the rain in my FWD A3.....

Still, if you've got the cash, I'm sure a well modified S3 would be the best of the lot....

lol fair do's to 'Mr Montana'

Knew you'd bite....change the username to shark

So have you got a Corrado G60 then as that is your Tag

Well I went from a Corrado G60 2 an S3 and never looked back it's a much better car 2 drive and im with the others if you get an A3 you will be like I wish I had an S3.

is this really a dilemma???

you either want the top of the range pose mobile or you want sumat capable..... as per Nick's commets (Prawn)

A3 TQS shouldnt realy feature in your thoughts....an A3 2wd after 2000-2001 will have a ko3S turbo just like the A3 quattro, it just wont have the map to make it 180bhp like the quatty, so 1 map with no mods and you'll be beating the quatty, not S3's until you spend at least another grand ;)

yeah i do lol im just lookin for something nice to drive 4wd or rwd, it to boring fwd
if i do get an a3 i want to have around 300 mark bhp so 4wd is best.

No. £2k will not get you 300bhp, and if it somehow does, you'll certainly not have the suspension and brakes to deal with it.....

We had the TQS because we wanted to have 5 doors and the surity of the 4wd and the added power of the remap made for an interesting car.

It all depends what you want tbh
