internals????????????

Yeahh knew you would trot along and correct me

Roll your eyes @ me if you like, however......

given I do this.. and have done a few,.. have you?
your figures are somewhat off kilter in the optomistic range

AND... very dependant on some user skills in doing it right

Seen too many diy attempts which fell way short of acceptable, requiring significant rework (costly) to make it safe and reliable to achieve the power goals "hoped" and expected.

Disclaimer: Rough Guess
Very True ;)
LOL, might as well pluck power figures out of the sky too. Just as accurate

Pointless going for a figure in my opinion
Buy what you can afford and all of it and get it fitted properly and anything thats needed fabricating done properly and then get it mapped right!
then sit back and watch waht you get on rollers!
It may be more than the 400 or less but at the end of the day buy what you can afford and dont skimp in any areas!

agreed..

i see many folks chasing numbers.. but for a road car, not dyno queen, it should be usable power, not all at once, peak power at uber high rpms, and nothing else. might feel quick, but trust me the novelty will soon wear off, when you are never in the right gear to get it up onto boost and keep it there.

Its a nice number to have and talk abou down the pub of course.. :)

that about sums it up

again. not wanting to sound tight, dont you think the first figure to decide on is the budget and then see what you can attain.

good luck though

...again. not wanting to sound tight, dont you think the first figure to decide on is the budget and then see what you can attain....

Its how I did mine... didn't have a final figure in mind but knew how I wanted to go about doing it and what bits I would use. I have had to make compromises which means that I may never reach the power levels the turbo is potentially capable of but then its more about the engineering aspect for me... its been fun and challenging to keep the engine bay looking as std as possible but worth it :)

<tuffty/>

Questions I always ask when people ask me about BT is Whats the goal, and whats the budget. Only then can a sensible answer or kit be thought about. imho

I'm not a jumped up mechanic on a forum , so I haven't done any BT conversions, I guess its some kind of badger5of honour?

You may have done a million BT conversions, but so what? What does that really mean to me?

Not having a dig or anything, but how on earth did you read that figure wrong LOL

Lol i had to think about it for a few seconds, thought my eyes where going funny about where the dot was! But i got focused and realised after 10 secs the dot WAS in the correct place! Bet some idiot will pay them though.

i'd probably reckon it means he has more experience and knowledge of the costs and problems associated with getting big power from a 1.8t engine than you?

anyway, less of the my dad's got a bigger tele than you, thats a ridiculous price for that power. surely it would be a lot cheaper to do some sort of engine conversion including all the fabrication work required?

Yeah alot cheaper to do an engine conversion then pay that!

when I post I post from FACT, and EXPERIENCE.. you talk shyte and opinion.. typical forum "expert"
Bravo.. keep it up

The only jumped up person here, spurting, opinions and guesses is you.. Internet expert that you clearly are. You read it somewhere so it must be true and regurgitated by you as something with foundation.. which you just would'nt know not having even done it once yourself.

Pretty FOOLISH

You clearly are someone who feels thet have to reply to make themselves seem important, regardless of the fact you have no experience, and express mere opinions to others as facts, whilst also adding your caviat of

in your response to the OP.. lmao

Pointless. As are your posts
I await your pointless reply with baited breath - lol

lol good for you, I have no intention to gain experience in doing a BT conversion. I have a bigger career than selling go fast bits to kids and going BT conversions. Go ply for business else where.

you really are a sad little child are'nt you.

you have some serious jealousy issues to resolve in your life...

enjoy your "bigger career" in your laughable sad world where you feel you need to be top dog and have such contempt for others who know some subjects pretty well.

your posts dont reflect well on you..

I am intrigued now what you do as a Career now... not that I expect you to say what it is. Clearly very important for you, and far more important than other mere mortals, engineers and business owners.

Good luck.. and enjoy

i dont realy see what was wrong with Finesse's original post, he caviated his post twice: a grand for anything he missed out and stating he was only giving a rough guess. But at the end of the day indicating that £28 grand was a little on the steep side.

Where as:

LMAO

Internals???????????????

is pretty condescending.

This is a public forum, so yeah you'll get Joe blogs giving their opinion or "rough guess". Resist the urge to climb on your high horse and show how awesome you are, we all know you're very knowledgable and experienced. Grow up

I believe this is the post bill has been reffering to.

that came after the whole condecending thing, then it went catty, then it turned into willy waving!

seems you are from the same school as finesse.
When he starts throwing insults and insinuations as he has, he will receive some "grow up" comments back from me. Its childish

You nor anyone else on this planet tells me what to do .. ;)
Public forum as you say. You too should take some of your own advise.

£28k for BT conversion is crazy price, we can all agree on that.

Ignorent posting of made up figures, is simply ignorence and posting for the sake of it. The subsequent insult throwing and such, being a poor reflection.
I dont make shyte up, and do cringe at forums such at this one, with all the expert opinions from some... Laughable often.

I have no growing up to do.. nor inclination to argue the toss with you lot either.

I do not tolerate fools easily. I speak as I find, and you get what you see. No frills, no BS.
Blunt - often. Supportive and helpful for VAG owners all around, all the time.

mate, you sound like a complete ****.

you could learn a hell of a lot from listening to people like Bill, the guy does know what he is on about!

Anyone got this? Seems like good value? What is the clutch like on this conversion? It's my girlfriends daily so has to be good to use and not on/off like some uprated clutches i've had before. Sorting the suspension first, B8's, H&R's and spacers but something like this will be my next port of call.

http://www.amdtechnik.com/product.details.cfm?ProductID=470&VariantID=27&ReferenceID=1884

Back to the original question, I wonder if anyone EVER, has forked out for this conversion? I mean, it's the price of a brand spanking new 8L S3 back in the day isn't it, and obviously, 400bhp+ is more accessible now for a fraction of the price with the knowledge that tuners have today!

You could buy a second hand 8P S3 and go BT on that for £28k.
