Just nipped out on my lunch (home) and had a brand spanking 130i givin me grief....waited until i hit the private road we both agreed to meet up on and planted it from 15mph ish.....i managed a car length upto a high speed before backing off..... pretty chuffed with that :)

considering he was clearly trying to push me :)

that said im more eager than ever now to get that FMIC on and a stage 2 map cos not comfortable being that close (although i dont expect miracles)

bmw 130 or hyundia i30?

is there any car you havnt beaten? Paper stats show the bmw to be quicker than a standard s3 and a mapped S3 would probably match it.

ermmmm, i post my races fella and i certainly didnt dream it..... i also post when i lose but then why would i race a car like a Ferrari when i know ill get battered....

and yes im a mapped S3...... small straight runs afterwards he was stuck to me but on that strip i pulled a definate length

Im like you Tim when it comes to playing with other cars. As soon as I see something which I wouldnt mind seeing how the S3 does against, I wait for a safe place then go fishing to see if it catches lol.

I have been surprised quite a few times how well the S3 has done again some cars which I thought I would lose by quite a bit but turns out the S3 is quicker or on a par.

Playing with my friends stage 2+ 8P S3 last night, that was a joke lol but fun.

Nathan

Tim's little jollies are all good fun. We all do it, let's be honest.

I had a play with a Carrera 4S and an Astra 888 diesel last night. Let's say Porka - 9, S3 - 1 and Astra - 0!

Private party that I encrouched on, but still got thumbs up and smiles from both.

I love it when you see a true enthusiast on the road and you have respectable safe fun and then get the thumps up even if you have spanked them lol

Tim, with all due respect, I think you're perhaps a little bit too old for these types of shennanigans now. Most people grow out of drag racing everyone they think they have half a chance against by the age of 21 I'd have thought. But here we are again, with yet another thread from you about racing on the public highway going up to silly speeds. All it takes is for unmarked cop car to catch you out and that's your whole world turned upside down.

Now I'm no boring fart and nor am I old (23), but I just find this sort of behaviour a bit immature. Yes, I like to drive fast every now and then and when conditions are OK, but it's clear that you do it on a regular basis judging from the amount of these threads you create.

> drag racing everyone they think they have half a chance against

errr from what ive seen, arnt all about that at all.

being a bit over dramatic there i think

Golf, to be honest, I would suggest Tim's threads are not that often. The point is he posts up when it happens. I didn't start a thread on the little blat I had last night, nor last weekend etc etc.

I'm sure if everyone posted up when they booted their sports cars, the forum would be filled with similar threads.

Not having a go at either of you - talk about sitting on the fence. Hey ho!

I like these threads! Nice to know what the s3 can do! And everytime I read one where the car has shown something much newer what's what it makes me laugh!
The annoyance to that guy driving the beamer! Nice thread glad to see the s3 still holds its ground!

I had a go at an RS4 the other day. That was fun lol. Think I suprised him with just how torquey the S3 is in 6th but as soon as the right gear is selected the RS4 is like sh*t off a shovel.

appreciate where your coming from fella - can i just explain that i don't often go out looking for these...the case today as an example, the guy passed two cars behind me over zig zagged lines to get to me....the run was clear.
We all have tangles now and again and yes going faster will always create more risks - there is no moral high ground - however there is a difference between being completely stupid with it and not....as said, you dont buy a car like this to tootle at 30mph on a 60mph road..... i cant defend my actions nor do i want to, i had a bit of fun....and for reference my license is clean (touch wood), i put this down to the fact that i read whats far in front of me very well which helps

as said, there is no defence..... but will i start driving like a granny? nope......will you? im guessing not..... if im wrong then fair play and i hope you enjoy the performance of your car when you manage to get to a track day

although my sneaky suspicion is obvious

tell this to the parents of the kid you didnt see between the parked cars, or the kid the geeza ya racing didnt see. or the family in the car up front that looked in its mirror and saw you 200 yards away that you just hit up the ****..... 120s no excuse man none at all!

Going on 50.?

Least ive got two years left of being immature!

I enjoyed reading the original post and enjoy some very enthusiastic driving too. You cant defend it, but surely we all do it?

Incidentally, most owners club forums Ive been a member of don't actually allow such posts, they are deleted.

You could say what of this happened what if that happened but at the end of the day tim said the road was clear no one in danger apart from the two raceing
what harm have they done.
They pay for the car insure it and everythink else so it up to the how he drives

120s is stupid.... zig zaged lines mean people zone..................... clear run after the zig zags, what did it turn into a motorway? reading this days after a mates 8 year old sister got clobbered by some **** in a corsa, or is it ok coz your driving an Audi?? Put the shoe on your foot..... your kids just died coz some pr!ck thought he had a clear run...

I 100% see what your saying but every one has the right to make there own mind up what to do at the time
I personally would of done the same as tim
had a bit of fun like he said the road was clear at the time

I just find it odd how your S3 seems to beat most things, an evo review I read said how the 130i hit the 155 limiter in 5th so it would be able to see past it with ease if the limiter was removed (assuming they have 6 speed box). The gearing on the S3 isnt that long (120 in 5th maybe a little bit more) so Id assume a remapped S3 would keep up with the bmw but then the bmw to stretch its legs at high end speed due to the extra capacity and torque and gearing. I know paper stats are exactly that and real life situations have multi factors but it does surprise me how many cars you say you have out done. Im not having a dig just making an observation.

maybe the beamer driver was too scared to rev his engine? id think that quite a few people dont ever rev to the limiter in 1st or second or even third sometimes. they have 260bhp ? so not like its going to be miles ahead of a 250bhp s3. If they had gone faster then maybe the beamer would of started gaining.

we all like a play, i blap it here n there thats why i drive a car with a Turbo (all be it a small one) but putting it on a public forum.... keep it for the pub or car meets. your S3 is fast well done, just like the other 100 odd mapped S3s on this forum!

Sorry animal, tim what ever ya name is but your gonna hurt someone sooner or later at those speeds.

I don't think we can really judge tim here.....

We don't know the road, or the type of area it was....

I know plenty of areas on the UK roads where ZigZag lines are in place at the start of long straight sections of dual carriageway with no entrances or exits....

Perhaps Tim ment cross hatchings? Used where a road widens from single carriage way to dual and a central safety barrier appears? it could be two miles long, dead straight with no exists, and enclosed by a 15ft high wall each side? In that case can we really say a quick blast up to 120 is all that stupid?

I'm not trying to defend the speed, but unless we know the exact situation, I think we should just accept the post for what it is: a bit of fun

jesus, this thread is off the "holier than thou" scale.

hands up anyone that has not broken a speed limit or breached 120mph

I see all the points being made here, however, I find it hard to believe that Tim was doing 120 through a built up area or anything, he's driving so he makes the decisions and faces any consequences.... yes silly speeds, but silly speeds can be fun if you take care. Are we all not tempted sometimes to have a little zoom zoom? Not all the time but if theres not much about.

I won't even dignify that with a response.

Anything bad I've said about you before Graeme, I take it all back. A friend of mine died at the age of 20 because his mate was driving like a **** and racing people until he lost control at 90mph. My mate was decapitated by a tree and died instantly, the other guy was seriously fu**ed up for two weeks, until, he too, died.

I don't think we can really judge tim here.....

We don't know the road, or the type of area it was....

I don't think anyone is judging Tim; I'm certainly not, and if it seems that way then I apologise but doing 120mph during the early afternoon is inexcusable. The roads are fairly busy, and travelling at that speed you never know who might decide to pull out after seeing the grey S3 as a tiny dot in their rear view only seconds ago. It's just not worth it to get one up on someone else. I know adrenaline usually takes over in these situations, but the little buzz you get from drag racing can quickly diminish once you see those flashing blue lights or worse still, the smell of the airbag detonators as your solidly built S3 dashboard tries to rearrange your face.

jesus, this thread is off the "holier than thou" scale.

hands up anyone that has not broken a speed limit or breached 120mph

Ah, that old chestnut. Infallible logic.

So, what is the big deal?

I think it's safe to say the incident didn't take place at Brands Hatch.

There are far more dangerous things to do on the road then drive at 120mph, if your driving at those speeds then one would expect the driver to be paying attention, know the road better then he knows himself and have the abilty to know when to stop.

Golf, your friend's friend who died was obvisouly being a complete idiot, probably driving a car that was barely made for motorway speeds let alone 90+. I have never raced anyone upto 120, nor would i i expect, i tend to drag upto the speed limit, if your winning then hooray :yellowrs4: :blahblah1:

ok i see i have gotten a few backs up.....but as some members have said, reserve judgement until you know all the facts otherwise you WILL end up making an a**e of yourself (no names mentioned but it doesn't take a genius to work out who assumed the worst)

The private road in question was indeed a single lane carriageway type with a lane sized block of zagged lines for the whole 3-4 mile stretch...can i just add that i did not and do not overtake on these.... they are there for a reason.....however the road then meets a roadabout where it hooks up to a dual carriageway which goes up a hill...... this had no other people on it at the time....why? because i was sat behind a lorry for the previous 2 miles doing well below the speed limit. There are no houses or footpaths near this private road either, the whole lot is tree lined...... so as said above, i do not feel the need to apologise for my actions as i think the conditions couldnt have been much more favourable

i truly am sorry for all the sad stories above I really am, but what i do detest is that you should feel compelled to push your thoughts on us to make a point that didnt need making........ and for the record i am 30 and 11/12 :)

Chopper - i see your point, although as said i dont tend to play with anyone that is gonna ruin me, what would be the point? what will i find out that i didnt already know?

interesting how many complain yet have spent a small fortune on upgrading their cars be it suspension or performance and both!!...yet will never track them to take full advantage, there is a name for that you know, im sure your brainy enough to work it out

or am i giving you too much kudos?

loool close /thread

Animal said he was on a private road so an unmarked cop is going to do him for what ?

Dangerous driving?? Careless driving???
If it's a private road that the public have access to then you can get in trouble for going stupidly fast... i.e.120mph.

SO im making an **** of my self for talking sense! you really are a bigger wazzok than i thought timmy! private road my ****!

Love the way you edited your orig post 1 hour ago to make it look more innocent when you posted it over 9 hours ago!!!
