Hi all,

As above my bulb went off while driving and got the error up on the dash telling me so, I switched them off and then back on again, it slowly went yellow and went off. The same happens if I repeat this process.

Is this a dodgey bulb or ballast?

I have the v8 S5 so how hard/easy is it to swap both bulbs out?

Cheers, James

sounds like dodgy bulbs but you would have to replace the bulbs to test.
Changing is relatively easy... T30 screw driver

remove the black plastic cover behind the front grill (4 t30 screws holding it down)
then remove 3 bolts on each headlight: one on top, one beside the grill and the other just behind headlight - the last one doesn't need removing, just loosen it up enough to allow the headlight to slide out.
Then wiggle and pull the headlight forward away from car and disconnect the connector, take off rear cover and twist the bulb holder loose to release old bulb.
swap bulbs over and plug in connector, then test the lights before refitting.
reverse instructions to put back together
