    Hi,

I did try and send this through the form on your web site but the captcah seems to be borked.

I am noticing that the exhaust tips of my S4 seem to blacken quite quickly (when i took delivery of it - used car - the tips where completely black and took some scrubbing to bring them back to shine). Does this indicate that my engine could use a purge - would it likely stop this problem?

    Hi there,

As far as I'm aware it probably wouldn't help a great deal.
Although the engine purge would clean up the engine internally, the problem with the tips blackening is to do with the un-burnt fuel in the exhaust gas mixture.

It's pretty much normal for exhaust tips to 'soot up' however if it's doing it faster than you would expect then it could be an underlying issue causing a possible over fuelling of the engine.

    Hope this helps,
    Regards, AL.
