I think he's right... it would be fine for a while whilst it's a novelty... but once that has worn off it's just the wrong colour... especially after you've seen a few others on the road in more preferable colours.

I personally don't like yellow cars... in my opinion they look like they belong in a LEGO set! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    But that's just me...

'Yellow' on something like an Audi, BMW, Mercedes... etc. just looks wrong to me. There are certain extreme cars that can get away with it but mostly I don't think it works... but hey, each to their own.

Well speaking from someone what said they'd never by a yellow car and that's had an S3 in Imola yellow with yellow seats for over 2 1/2 years - bo/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gifcks to it is what I say! Not 100% about the RS4 - think that's looks best in Red to be honest.

That said the S3 looks dull as hell in anything other than blue, yellow or dolphin grey and I think it brightens up your day to a certain extent getting in a daft coloured car. Also gets other people at work going that's a bit f/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gifg bright isn't it and makes them laugh too. At the other end of the scale I get the 80 year old biddies walking down the street telling me how nice my car is and it's the best kept car about, it's also been parked in some of the dogiest spaces imaginable and not been touched so go figure!

PS to chris I bought a 2nd hand yellow car and I don't think I'll have a problem selling it on, however we might find out in the next 3 months.

I remember seeing kim collins' yellow S4 avant at castle coombe last year - that looked absolutely stunning.

I would possibly go for one, a little different and rarer than the normal colours. Saw a new S4 avant yesterday, and that looked awesome with the chrome mirrors and roof rails.

I was about to say "no way, not never" but then I remembered that about 20 years ago, I owned a Nova 1.3SR hatchback in yellow. This was in the days when it was a nearly new model, and long before it was taken over as the chavs' chariot.

It worked quite well partly, I suppose, because it was a small car to start with, and a fair portion of it was covered in the contrasting grey spoilers graphics, so the actual amount of yellow on display was not that great.

The other thing to bear in mind is, this was the 80s. They did things differently then.

    I did...
There was never any other colour considered.

I wanted a loud car...loud engine, loud exhaust, loud colour. And it just works.

I was given the usual **** about resale value, demand etc...but I absolutely love it!
Everyday I see one in yellow (Mine usually...as there aren't many around in yellow) I love it more and more...and thank the lord I never went for boring silver / black / grey etc...

    In saying all that...
It has to be the right shade of yellow (there are some awful yellows around!) and it has to be on the right car.

I like the Boxster in Speed Yellow too...
    And the Cayman.

I'd have any of them in yellow.

Well of course i love my yellow car and spent ages looking for one and no you you don't get bored never it's cool.
About buying second hand well thats how i brought mine and i was willing to pay more for that colour aswell even though i didn't have to.
There is not many Yellow A3 TDI's around and i was chuffed to get one.
You either love them or hate them, plus a few bonus's
    1. apparently yellow cars are less likely to be involved in accidents as you can't miss them.
    2. if it gets nicked well easier to find for the law And criminals are less likely to nick it as it stands out to much.
3.you can always find it in the car park.
downsides are it shows tar, off the road on the paint work and stands out a mile.
Also gets dirty fast but hey i can live with that.
    Yellow is just wicked.
oh and nearly forgot if someone reports you for speeding then easy for the law to find you.

Some insurance companies here offer a 5% discount for yellow cars/trucks. Personally I think it's an awesome idea - the brighter the colour, the more discount you should be able to get.

A few years back I bought a Nugget Yellow Corrado 1.8 16v on a bit of an impulse buy, but actually grew to love it! As you can see, after a polish on a sunny day the thing would just glow! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Had pros and cons though.

    Pro
Easy to find in the car park

    Con
Could never go out and about if I'd pulled a sickie from work (people were always saying to me "I saw you the other day") /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

After a couple of years I sold it and bought a green corrado 2.0 16v, which was a better drive, but just seemed a bit dull after Old Yeller.

Well for what it's worth I LOVE my yellow S3. So I can answer the question who buys a second hand yellow car? - Me and I have had it over a year now, it still makes me smile, although its not wholey down to the colour 270 horses help with the smile. the colour is easy to spot when parked with the humdrum and all your friends wave when you pass (like they would spot you in a silver Corsa - I think not). But as Glen says it's not a colour for everyone and I do feel for those people who dont like yellow.

It's true, the only car I've ever missed more that that yellow corrado is the '69 beetle it replaced. Sold it 7 years ago, and still regret it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bang.gif Bought it as a £400 rust bucket and carried out a full body of restoration. No modern car will ever pull the ladies like that thing did!

Well I love certain yellow's like Audi's Imola, Porsche speed Yellow, the ferrari and alfa yellow, even the fiat punto yellow but the new Audi toucan yellow and that pale pastel volvo T5-R colour are bloody aweful.

Disagree with the toucan yellow as it is cool and i see the imola yellow not as nice. Toucan wins it for me and i'm just saying that because i've got one that colour.
