I'v now got a very light scratch across my windscreen, you can hardly feel it with a nail but its just at eye level so very off putting. There was a tiny stone caught under a wiper blade and I didnt notice it until i heard the screech on the window and by then it was too late:(

Anyone got any idea how to get scratches out of glass?

Hi ,
my dad had a scratch on his screen , on an old Escort I think , he got a rag and some jewellers rouge powder , moistened the cloth , then spent every lunch time for a whole summer dabbing the cloth in the powder and rubbing , but , ****** me , he got it out .
Not suggesting you do the same , just saying it is possible , perhaps a polishing mop and drill would speed things up , maybe a better rubing compound ?
My dear old Dad is proper old school , bless him , but just shows what can be done with a bit of determination .

Good luck ,

Mike.

Sure you can get glass polish cant you.. I may just be lying

For litle scratches take a rag and a windscreen polish paste,
for big ones get some machine polisher!

Thanks for the help guys I'll have a look for some polish and see how it goes

Look on ebay for Cerium Oxide & if you have a an orbital polisher/sander get some felt pads for it. You mix the powder with water to make a paste & use it like normal polish.

Does a great job on glass scratches. Just be careful not to overheat on the windscreen as it could de-laminate with a lot of heat.
Take your time & it should work fine.

Put a stone through it. £50 excess on your insurance and auto glass will fit a new screen
