I know this is such an old thread lol but i was looking for info on silicone pipes and this came up. Just been on the phone to awesome gti and they seem to say that they dont do a black pipe any more as they were melting and the red one has some heat treatment in it :sadlike:
tell me if i am completely wrong though or just being naive...... cheers.

Haha, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you all that Prawn HAS to text with his iPhone sideways because he can't touch the buttons separately when it's in portrait. Fact.

The exact same thing happened to that silicone bend on my car, i bought a silicone elbow reducer off ebay for £15 which done the job.

This is true, Unfortunately Forge Motorsport only do a Red one now.
Well... I say red, but it's not really red.
It's more a dull red towards their other silicone hoses kits. As you mention, the red one has special heatproof properties (although I'm not 100% clear myself on what the treatment is that it goes through to give it these properties).

I did have a quick look just now to see if Samco or SFS Performance do this hose, but unfortunately there is only currently Forge doing an after market one.

    Hope this helps! :)
    Cheers, Al.
