Hi guys, I guess this question has been asked a million times. But it isn't in the FAQ so I am going to ask again :)

Which head unit is the best OEM upgrade to go with on an 8P2 with Symphony as standard?

I would like intergrated phone, some sort of line in or media playback facility which will work with Spotify and that's about it.

I have seen RNS and BNS, I know one is newer and more sophisticated but as I believe RNS needs a separate Bluetooth module and BNS is all inclusive in the unit? Is this correct.

    Thanks. :beerchug:

    RNSE without a doubt.
Fantastic looking unit in any Audi dash ;)
Yes u will require a separate Bluetooth unit etc.
As for spotify I'm not sure as ud need an aux socket to connect it to ur phone to play it through the unit.
The RNSE has 2 sdhc 32gb card slots to use.
More than enough music storage to keep u happy ;)

Depends on what kind of area you live in lol, there seems to be a lot of activity in some areas with breaking in and stealing RNS units, myself is sticking with his crappy Concert for now  as my area aint the best lol

In terms of fitting an RNS and getting it working; so I would require the unit itself and the appropriate Bluetooth module? Is it plug and code?

Would anybody be able to tell me the differences between the years and different variants?

If I wanted to add in a tv tuning function could I simply plug one of the many modules that are on eBay into the back of it, have it coded and watch tv whilst stationary?

RNS-E is the way to go. Mk2 preferably.

But obviously like you suggested will need the relevent module for the bluetooth which has to be the highline if you want full telephone control.

    Expensive!

Just so u know the Bluetooth module is JUST for using the telephone not for Bluetoothing music to the unit.
Yes the RNSE and Bluetooth need to be coded :)

    quick Q - is a Mk2 RNS-E a straight swap for a Mk1 RNS-E and will the bluetooth etc all still work?

All I need is the better SD card slots lol.

Pablo, the mk1 is worth around £100-£150 less than mk 2. Also although it should be plug and play, you will still need the actual RSN-e coded as it may have come from a car that has different options to yours.

So, if you already have bluetooth, will you still need to buy the bt module to mate to the RNSE?

Is there a way to play music over bluetooth? - or that mean I have to change to an aftermarket head unit?

How can you tell the difference between a rns-e mk1 and mk2. I'm currently looking at trying to buy one my self to replace my symphony with 6 disc in dash changer.
