My car only came with one key, so I had to go to Audi to get an extra.

Couldn't find anyone else locally who would touch it. One reputable local car locksmith said he won't touch newer VAG cars as there there is risk of failure when he codes them.

I guess I'm probably best to go via audi themselves just for safety and peace of mind, 225 seems a but steep, could VW do them too?

There was a tread on here a few moths ago where a chap used a local Glasgow company to supply a new key. Think it worked out like £165 all in. Do a search on audi-sport.

Well I'm from the north west so both of these places are out of reach for me! Do awesome gti do them? Or any other vag specialist?

I wasn't suggesting you try those places, just thought it may give you a few 'what to search for' clues/leads to follow in your local area.

If you find some VAG specialists in your area you could always give them a ring and ask !

I know of a place in Leeds (non-Audi) that does them for about £130 ish but you need to bring the car to them.

100% don't have to go to the dealers, there's others out there that have the equipment & knowledge to do car keys & they'll come to you
