How do you know when your glow plugs need to be changed?

Whats the purpose of a glow plug?

The glow plugs pre-heat the chamber to enable the diesel to combust easier as it enters the cylinder.

They're normally replaced when the car turns over several times before starting.

Does it crank over quickly too many times before starting or is the cranking slower?

Mine cranks quickly then just about starts.

Before replacing the glow plugs just try this

Put the side lights on before trying to start

There is a common problem with the headlight switch that causes the car to turn over a few times before it will start

The glowplugs won't affect the cracking speed, thats more battery dependant.
